A predecessor, is simply something which was made before something else in a series, for example Super Mario Land is the predecessor to Super Mario Land 2, Windows Vista is the predecessor to Windows 7, etc.

Note that while a predecessor is something made before another thing in a series, a pre''quel'' is a sequel to an installment in a series that is set ''before'' it's predecessor (note how I used the word predecessor).
As far as i'm concerned, it seems cricket the only one with a profile from the Warioware Smooth Move website. I wonder why the others don't have it? It's not like the website is non canon.
