===Pre-release and unused content=== | ==Version differences==
Unused images (presumably intended for use in the digital manual) in the files for Minecraft: Wii U Edition show that different skins were originally going to be used, rather than the ones in the final version. These include Hooktail as the Ender Dragon instead of Gobblegut, Midbus as the Pigs, and Yoshi as the Horses. Another image shows the Ender Chest with a Mr. I-themed design, rather than the Shy Guy-themed design it has in the release version. | As the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, Minecraft: Wii U Edition and Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition are separate versions of the game with slightly different content, the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack differs between each edition as well. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is currently the most updated version of the game and the features listed here are exclusive to their respective versions and not present in it, although their files still exist.
===Exclusive to the Wii U and Nintendo Switch editions===
The Minecart with Furnace, currently also available in Minecraft: Java Edition, was intentionally excluded from the Bedrock Edition of the game.

The old Stonecutter block was originally made for Minecraft: Pocket Edition and phased out as its functions were incorporated into the Crafting Table. It remained as a decorative block in Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition, however. While the Zombie, Creeper and Dragon head icons and Skeleton and Wither Skeleton skull icons were replaced with their respective blocks in the inventory in other versions of the game, they remain as textures in this version. Horses in this version also use their old, more complex model.

Zombie Pigmen, who were redesigned and renamed to Zombified Piglins in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, are still present in these versions of the game. These versions also feature the old designs for Villagers, before their designs were expanded by giving them more professions and different designs depending on the biome. Similarly, Zombie Villagers still use their old textures, from before they were expanded to depict other Villager professions. Bats and Vexes in these versions also use their old model.

The Illusioner mob and the Spectral Arrows items are both only obtainable through commands in Minecraft: Java Edition and completely unobtainable in all other editions of the game. Despite this, both of them are fully implemented in the code Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and may be obtained via third-party hacking. Textures for these features exist in the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack. Similarly, the textures for the Banner Pattern and the Bundle were removed from the game when the two items were updated to feature more patterns and colors, respectively, making their Super Mario Mash-Up Pack textures also unused. Other textures that go completely unused in Minecraft include the Portfolio (a Minecraft Education feature accidentally left in the files), the Ruby (precursor to the Emerald accidentally left in the files), an unknown llama texture, the Killer Bunny and the Knowledge Book (both of which are Minecraft: Java Edition exclusives).

Minecraft is a game developed by Mojang Studios. It is a 3D sandbox game with a blocky aesthetic centered around gathering resources to survive from environmental hazards or hostile mobs, exploring the randomly generated terrain, and creating worlds and sculptures using a variety of blocks and tools, though the objective is largely determined by the player. It was originally released as an indie game for PC and handheld devices on November 18, 2011.
All releases of Minecraft on Nintendo consoles include the exclusive Super Mario Mash-up pack, which includes Super Mario-themed texture changes for all of the game's objects and several skins for the player. It was originally released as downloadable content for the Wii U version in 2016 and was later included with its physical release. Said version, titled Minecraft: Wii U Edition, originally released for the Nintendo eShop on December 17, 2015,[5] and later received a physical release on June 17, 2016.[6] Minecraft: Wii U Edition was discontinued after its final update in 2018 along with other legacy console platforms except for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.[7] A Nintendo Switch port, known as Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, was released on the Nintendo eShop on May 11, 2017.[8] Aside from the different controls and an increased map size, it is near-identical to the Wii U game. Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition was discontinued on June 21, 2018, and was replaced with another version of the game, which was released both digitally and physically on the same day, named simply Minecraft (also officially known as Minecraft: Bedrock Edition since June 7, 2022), with players who purchased the original Nintendo Switch Edition having an option to upgrade to the new version for free. This version allows cross-play with other platforms, namely Windows, ChromeOS, Android, iOS, iPadOS, Fire, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR, as these all share the same codebase known as "Bedrock" (originated from Minecraft: Pocket Edition). A version of Minecraft for the New Nintendo 3DS, titled Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition, was launched on September 13, 2017, and was discontinued on January 15, 2019.[9]
The original game also includes references to the Super Mario franchise, such as a painting featuring 100m from Donkey Kong (which was based on a painting by Kristoffer Zetterstrand), and the Wii U, New Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch versions keep these references.[10]
Minecraft also crosses over with Super Mario in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in which Steve from Minecraft appears as a playable DLC fighter, along with a stage based on Minecraft, Minecraft World.
Super Mario Mash-up[edit]
- "Super Mario Mash-up" redirects here. For the Play Nintendo gallery, see Super Mario Mash-Up Pack Images - Minecraft: Wii U Edition.
The Super Mario Mash-up was released as downloadable content for the Wii U Edition on May 17, 2016 (though it comes bundled with the physical release), alongside the Nintendo Switch Edition on May 11, 2017, and as part of a free update to the New Nintendo 3DS Edition on June 5, 2018.[11] It was developed in conjunction with Nintendo.[12] Though the mechanics of Minecraft remain the same in the Mash-up, everything has been visually changed to match the aesthetics of the Super Mario franchise, which includes different skins for the player and every block, item, and mob. There is also a premade world containing several Super Mario landmarks and multiple enemy gauntlets and jumping challenges.[13] Additionally, the Mash-up replaces the game's music with tracks from Super Mario 64.
Skins[edit]
Skins are models/textures that the player can apply to change their appearance. There are forty Super Mario-themed skins that come with the Mash-up. These skins cannot be used in cross-platform multiplayer. For a gallery of all skins as they are titled and ordered from the selection screen, see Gallery:Minecraft § Skins.

Textures[edit]
This section is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it is being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible.
Mobs[edit]
- For this subject's image gallery, see Gallery:Minecraft mobs.
Mobs are the creatures that can be found throughout the world, both friendly and aggressive. Though the Super Mario Mash-up changes all mobs' appearances, their names in-game remain the same and they retain the same behaviors and sounds of their original Minecraft counterparts (e.g. the Hammer Bro-skinned Zombies charge at players and make moaning noises like Zombies in the base game rather than throwing hammers and emitting their own voice clips like in the Super Mario franchise), as the Super Mario Mash-up bears no gameplay differences.

Map[edit]
Many large-scale, notable Super Mario landmarks make an appearance in the pre-built world, including Peach's Castle, Delfino Plaza, Bowser's Airship, Dinosaur Land, and many more generic locations including a Ghost House and end-of-level Castles.
Upon first starting the world, the player first spawns in a Toad House, located in an enclosed area, before being directed to a pipe that leads them towards the center of the map, from there, they are able to freely explore the world. The entire landscape is shaped to resemble Super Mario levels, including large platforms, Mushroom Platforms and mushrooms, blocks of various types, such as ? Blocks and Brick Blocks, and pipes spread all over the world. Locations are often connected by Warp Pipe contraptions or World Map-like paths. Large sprite recreations and 3D statues appear across the entire map. Treasure, including Minecraft Music Discs and Gold Ingots, are often hidden at points of interest. At the edges of the map, the ocean floor is carved into various giant Brick Blocks.
Entering Minecraft's Nether dimension through a recreation of the Valley of Bowser entrance features an explorable Bowser's Castle and additional landmarks. The Nether itself is based on World 8 from modern platformers.

Version differences[edit]
As the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, Minecraft: Wii U Edition and Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition are separate versions of the game with slightly different content, the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack differs between each edition as well. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is currently the most updated version of the game and the features listed here are exclusive to their respective versions and not present in it, although their files still exist.
Exclusive to the Wii U and Nintendo Switch editions[edit]
The Minecart with Furnace, currently also available in Minecraft: Java Edition, was intentionally excluded from the Bedrock Edition of the game.
Exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS Edition[edit]
The old Stonecutter block was originally made for Minecraft: Pocket Edition and phased out as its functions were incorporated into the Crafting Table. It remained as a decorative block in Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition, however. While the Zombie, Creeper and Dragon head icons and Skeleton and Wither Skeleton skull icons were replaced with their respective blocks in the inventory in other versions of the game, they remain as textures in this version. Horses in this version also use their old, more complex model.
Exclusive to the 3DS, Wii U and Switch Editions[edit]
Zombie Pigmen, who were redesigned and renamed to Zombified Piglins in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, are still present in these versions of the game. These versions also feature the old designs for Villagers, before their designs were expanded by giving them more professions and different designs depending on the biome. Similarly, Zombie Villagers still use their old textures, from before they were expanded to depict other Villager professions. Bats and Vexes in these versions also use their old model.

Farmer Villager (Pianta)
Zombie Villager (Boomerang Bro)
Bat (Swoop)
Pre-release and unused content[edit]
Unused Super Mario Mash-Up Pack content[edit]
Unused images (presumably intended for use in the digital manual) in the files for Minecraft: Wii U Edition show that different skins were originally going to be used, rather than the ones in the final version. These include Hooktail as the Ender Dragon instead of Gobblegut, Midbus as the Pigs, and Yoshi as the Horses. Another image shows the Ender Chest with a Mr. I-themed design, rather than the Shy Guy-themed design it has in the release version. The screenshot showing the Yoshi horses was previously used in the "Horses" section of the "How to Play" menu, prior to the patch adding the Battle Mini Game. The texture for the Shulker mob was also changed to have its fangs removed in a later version of the game.

Unused Minecraft content[edit]
