Ring Leader is a Free-for-All minigame featured in Mario Party 9. Its name is a pun on "ringleader," which is a term for a person who leads others, especially in opposition to authority.

Introduction[edit]

The camera does a close-up shot of the players as they jump, and then again as they approach the starting line.

Gameplay[edit]

Players try to earn points by jumping their Dolphins through hoops. Red hoops can be reached with a simple thrust of the Wii Remote, but gold hoops require the players to dive (by holding A Button) so that they can do a higher jump. Occasionally, there are several consecutive hoops, which require good timing to get through all of them. The player with the highest score at the end of the course wins. The highest possible score is 40 points.

This minigame also appears in Perspective Mode, where the camera is positioned behind the player and zoomed in.

Ending[edit]

After crossing the goal, the Dolphins jump randomly.

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"Jump your Dolphin through the floating rings. Red rings are worth one point, and the higher gold rings are worth three points."
  • Controls"Hold the Wii Remote vertically. Swing the Wii Remote upward to make your Dolphin jump. Hold A Button to dive, and then swing the Wii Remote upward to perform a high jump."
