King Boo Showdown:

Angry King Boo:

King Boo's Tricky Tiles is a boss minigame appearing in Mario Party 10. It takes place in Haunted Trail and pits players against King Boo.

Introduction[edit]

The minigame takes place in a graveyard at night. The players are shown standing on stone pillars above a purple lake before the camera pans to the surrounding forest. King Boo is seen moving among the trees, but he fades away when the camera focuses on him; suddenly, he pops up right in front of the players, startling them. He waggles his tongue and laughs evilly before the minigame begins.

Gameplay[edit]

King Boo summons a course made of floating blue and red tiles. To complicate matters, the course also features a few Boos that disguise themselves as red tiles. The Boos are shown at the beginning of the round before morphing into their tile forms. The players must navigate the course to reach switches that shine lights on King Boo for damage and points. Orange switches are worth one point, while yellow switches are worth three. The fake tiles shake periodically as the players race to the switches. Anyone who jumps on a Boo falls into the lake below, losing a point before returning in a bubble to their starting position. Players are temporarily immobilized while activating a switch, allowing their competitors to make more progress towards activating the other lights. After all available switches are pressed, the players return to their starting positions as King Boo summons a new course. If a player fails to press any switch in a course, they will groan in disappointment after the last switch is pressed.

When half of King Boo's health is depleted, he lets out a roar of anger and makes the courses more elaborate, with more Boos. At the beginning of each round, he makes one of the Boos switch places with a normal red tile before floating up to the screen and taunting the camera, preventing players from seeing nearly all the Boos as they morph into tiles.

The minigame ends once King Boo's health drops to zero. The player who lands the final blow gains an additional five points. After King Boo fades away, the result screen is shown with a sum of points, penalties, and bonuses. The player with the most points overall wins the minigame.

Ending[edit]

After gaining the last hit, King Boo spins around, disappointed, and then vanishes before an explosion happens.
