Huey, Paper Mario: Color Splash

Plum Park is a location from Paper Mario: Color Splash. The path leading here is unlocked after getting the purple Mini Paint Star from Dark Bloo Inn, and unlocks paths leading to Violet Passage and Bloo Bay Beach. The Teapot and Balloon Things can be found here, but Petea Piranha must be defeated before Mario can get the Teapot.

Layout[edit]

Shortly after entering the level, Mario is greeted by a Dark Bloo Inn staff member. He has not seen the teapot needed for the ghost Toads, so Huey encourages Mario to continue looking. Plum Park's water has been contaminated by poison, and Mario will take 2 damage if he enters it. Instead, Mario must walk on paths or hop across lily pads to navigate the area. First, Mario has to hammer a tilted fence in the greeting area, allowing him to continue on a side path. Continuing north, he will come across a hollow passage he can enter to reach an area full of Poison Bloopers and Shy Guys in buckets.

To the north, Mario will enter a hedge maze. Through the right exit, Mario will return to the bucket area and can destroy a crate to reach the top of an overhang. A Fire Piranha Plant nests in a bucket, and after it is defeated, the bucket rolls into the poison and Mario can safely ride it around. To the right is a concert stage, along with Toad #1 of the yellow Rescue Squad. When Mario approaches the stage, Birdo performs a song with Koopa Troopas. The Toad instructs Mario to find the teapot and leaves to see his captain in Sacred Forest.

After collecting the Balloons Thing, Mario must hammer down the concert wall to reveal the Teapot. As Mario is squeezing it, Petea Piranha pops out and attacks. Petea is weak to the Lemon and Lemon Replica Things, which blind him and cause him to fall over. This may also be done by using Hammer or Jump attacks after he spins and gets dizzy. Once Petea is defeated, the Teapot can be removed and Plum Park's waters are cleaned.

A flower blooms in the bucket area, and Mario must ride a bucket over to it to grab the purple Mini Paint Star on top, opening a path to Violet Passage. The blue Mini Paint Star is in the area right of the entrance, and it opens a shortcut to Bloo Bay Beach.

Three fountains called the Fountain of Life, Fountain of Truth, and the Fountain of Purity are located in Plum Park at different ends of the area. When not poisoned, the Fountain of Life restores Mario's health. The Fountain of Truth contains many coins thrown in by a Toad to grant wishes, and the Fountain of Purity has the Teapot rotating on top of it.

Trivia[edit]

  • According to the game manual, the two tea-drinking Snifits by the waterfall are responsible for the poisonous water. They stuffed Petea Piranha inside the teapot to use him as a teabag, which is also why Petea is folded up as one.
  • This area is very similar to World 3 of the previous game. Both have toxic water on the first visit caused by an enemy and the music and visuals change after the completion of the level.
