Pop-Star Piranhas is a 4-Player minigame found in Mario Party 5. Pop-Star Piranhas was also one of the playable minigames in the Mario Party 5 demo on the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! bonus disk. Additionally, the minigame was originally called Dancin' Piranha Plant before the name was changed in the final version. The songs played are all covers of the Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros.
Introduction[edit]
Spotlights shine above the Warp Pipes. Right before the first set of Piranha Plants pops out, an explosion occurs out of all of the pipes.
Gameplay[edit]
Players attempt to watch the Piranha Plants as they dance. Each Piranha Plant corresponds to a button on its pipe. One of the Piranha Plants dances a little differently from the others. The players can watch the leaves to find which Piranha Plant is dancing differently. The players must choose the button that they think corresponds to the Piranha Plant that is dancing differently before the music stops. The characters face away from the screen so that players cannot copy each other's answers. When all players have guessed, or when the five-second time limit runs out, all players reveal their guesses, and whoever is correct receives a point. The player(s) with the most points after three rounds win(s).
Ending[edit]
Winners do their winning poses and losers do their losing poses as the Piranha Plants continue dancing in the background. If the minigame ends in a draw, all players do their losing animations as the Piranha Plants retreat into their pipes.
Controls[edit]
- ///// – Press the button noted on the Warp Pipe of the Piranha Plant that's dancing differently.
In-game text[edit]
- Rules – "Find the one Piranha Plant that's dancing differently from the others. Whoever answers correctly the most times wins."
- Advice – "Watch the leaves to find which one is dancing to its own rhythm."
