Pizza Me, Mario is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party 9. The minigame name is a pun on "It's-a me, Mario!" Mario's opening line from Super Mario 64, which is commonly thought of as his catchphrase. It was named by writer Mike Drucker, who was employed by Nintendo of America at the time.[1]
Introduction[edit]
The camera shows a pizza in the furnace, then aims down to the players and their spinning pizza.
Gameplay[edit]
Each player has their own topping: pepperoni slices for the first player, cheese wedges for the second player, broccoli florets for the third player, and sliced mushrooms for the fourth player. If there are fewer than four players, the remaining toppings will already be placed onto the pizza. The objective of the minigame is to throw the toppings onto the rotating pizza by shaking . If a player throws their topping onto a slice that already has it, it will simply fly away. The player who gets their toppings onto every slice first wins. This is one of the few minigames where, when a player wins, the other players are not active when the task is done, the others being Logger Heads, 10 to Win, and Snow Go.
Toad and Shy Guy stand on stools during this minigame due to their height. They also stand on stools in Don't Look, Launch Break, and Card Smarts.
In Time Attack, the player must toss all four toppings onto the pizza, one after the other. In order to achieve the bonus objective, the player must not make any mistakes when throwing in the toppings.
In-game text[edit]
- Rules – "Toss your toppings onto the rotating pizza. Be the first to get your toppings on every slice to win!"
