First appearance Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Nintendo Switch) (version 1.2.0) (2019)

Crown Chips[1] (also called crown tokens)[2] are collectibles in the Nintendo Switch version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. They are found exclusively in the "Crown Capture" levels in the Special Episode. Only the first one initially appears in each level they are encountered in; however, once the player collects the first one, a hidden timer activates for each subsequent Crown Chip. The player must then collect the Crown Chips before each timer runs out. If the player fails to collect any Crown Chip within its respective time limit, they must restart their progress from the beginning. Collecting all five Crown Chips reveals a Shiny Crown.
