Direction Switches[1] are objects that appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong and its Nintendo Switch remake. They are buttons that act very similarly to switches from Donkey Kong for the Game Boy. Two red lights are on either side of a Direction Switch, with one being lit to indicate the direction of conveyor belts and moving platforms. Mario can jump on a Direction Switch to press it, reversing the direction of these objects. Donkey Kong also uses Direction Switches in some of his battles, using them to change the direction of conveyor belts at specific times.
In the remake, Direction Switches are slightly redesigned to further their resemblance to Color Switches. The button is now colored white while the light indicators are now yellow and larger, making their indication much clearer to the player. Similar objects known as conveyor switches appear in future games in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series.
