Kiwano Temple is a location from Paper Mario: Color Splash. The path leading here is unlocked after getting the orange Mini Paint Star in Marmalade Valley, and unlocks paths leading to The Golden Coliseum, Redpepper Volcano, and Toad Trainworks. Its name is inspired by the Cucumis metuliferus, a type of spiked fruit.

After entering the level, Mario must hammer a cracked pillar and cause it to collapse on the train tracks. This loosens a cardboard tube that Mario can ride in to get across spikes and reach the temple's entrance. Huey notices that the door is missing a spike. If Mario has gotten the Sharp Spike from Château Chanterelle, he can insert it and enter the temple.

In the first room, Mario must paint in four torches, which causes a POW Block to appear. When he hits it, the spikes in front of the POW Block flip over, and Spinies drop down from the ceiling. A Super Star can be used to defeat the Spinies and go to the next area.

In the next room, Mario must battle Spikes and Spinies to reach a cardboard tube, then roll it back to the entrance. He can jump on it to reach another floor, in which he must walk between Spinies and Brick Blocks to roll another cardboard tube.

The next area contains Spinies rolling in cardboard tubes. Mario must balance on the tubes and go between pillars, fighting Spikes and Paper-Cone Goombas. He can then roll a tube into a new area and trigger a pressure plate that sends him down to an area in which he must move the tube left and right to avoid lava. Before obtaining the Mini Paint Star, he must defeat a Big Spiny. The yellow Mini Paint Star opens a path to the Golden Coliseum, while the one below it (accessed by standing back on the platform and waiting for it to drop) leads to Redpepper Volcano.

When Mario gains access to Fort Cobalt, two Toads appear in Port Prisma discussing the train stuck at Kiwano Temple. If Mario visits it again, he will find a conductor upset at the tracks being destroyed, having a train full of Toads that need to visit Tangerino Grill. The blue Rescue Squad leader asks Mario to find his 23 squad members to fix the tracks.

Once all the squad members have been found, they form a set of train tracks. As the Sunset Express sets off, it is promptly crushed by a Thwomp. The conductor instructs the passengers to get out and push the train instead. An orange Mini Paint Star appears, opening a shortcut to Toad Trainworks, which the train stops at.

Huey, Paper Mario: Color Splash

Kiwano Temple is a location from Paper Mario: Color Splash. The path leading here is unlocked after getting the orange Mini Paint Star in Marmalade Valley, and unlocks paths leading to The Golden Coliseum, Redpepper Volcano, and Toad Trainworks. Its name is inspired by the kiwano, a type of spiked fruit.

Layout[edit]
