Fish Sticks is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 5. Its name comes from the name of the real-life food fishsticks (also known as "fish fingers"), which are battered slices of fish.

Introduction[edit]

A Fishin' Lakitu flies down and catches a Cheep Cheep with its fishing rod. The four players then walk up from separate ports where their boats are docked.

Gameplay[edit]

Players attempt to catch Cheep Cheeps on the ends of the various scattered fishing rods surrounding a pool of water in the middle of the platform to earn points. There are twelve rods total. When a fishing rod sinks down, this signifies that a Cheep Cheep has bitten the line. Red Cheep Cheeps are worth one point, and larger golden ones are worth three points. The player(s) with the most points at the end of the minigame win(s).

Ending[edit]

The camera zooms in on the location of the winner, who then performs their victory animation as the losers do their losing animations. If there is more than one winner, the camera does not zoom in.

Controls[edit]

  • Control Stick – Move
  • A Button – Check line

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"Catch Cheep Cheeps as they nibble on fishing lines. When the pole dips, grab it. Whoever gets the most points wins."
  • Advice"Scoring: Red Cheep Cheeps: 1 point. Gold Cheep Cheeps: 21 points."

1 - This is an error in the in-game text, as gold Cheep Cheeps are actually worth three points.
