Luiginary Flame is the fourth available Luiginary Attack in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. The Attack Pieces for it are located in Dreamy Driftwood Shore, and it costs 14 BP to use. It deals damage using neither the hammer nor boots. The attack has Fire attributes, and thus deals critical damage to Dreamcaps, Dreamcap Captains, Cocoknights, Iceads, Piranha Plants, Dreamcaps R, Dreamcap Captains R, Cocoknights R and Spritzblooms. No damage is dealt to a Gold Beanie.
Before the attack begins, Mario runs away from the enemies. Dreamy Luigi poses atop Mario as if he was throwing a fireball.
After confirming that attack, Mario throws out Dreamy Luigi, spawning Fire Luiginoids. The Luiginoids run ahead, with the last one staying to toss a fireball at Mario. Mario catches the fireball, and the attack starts by pressing . Mario throws the fireball at a chain of Fire Luiginoids. When the fireball reaches a Fire Luiginoid, the player has to press to successfully pass the fireball forward to the next Fire Luiginoid. Later passes are performed by increasingly large groups of Luiginoids holding their own fireballs, which increase the size of the fireball being passed. Missed inputs still allow the fireball to proceed, but reduce its size.
During the attack, Mario runs alongside the fireball. Some spots will not have Luiginoids available. Mario moves into the path to pass the fireball, which is done with the . (It is possible for multiple such passes to be performed in a row by Mario.) As the attack proceeds, the fireball bounces higher and off of the screen, putting more emphasis on the attack's steady pace than reacting to the falling fireball.
At the end of the sequence, the fireball is sent even higher into the air. Mario stands near the enemies with the hammer, and has to smash the falling fireball at the enemies with a final press of the button. The fireball will split into multiple fireballs, damaging most of the enemies if successful. The larger the fireball, the more damage the attack deals. Failure to correctly strike the fireball at the end causes the fireball to bounce off Mario and only hit a single enemy for minimal damage.
The fewer mistakes made during this attack, the better rating the player will obtain, ranging from "OK!" to "Excellent!" ratings. Missing with Mario's final hammer attack will result in the player getting no rating whatsoever.
In Battle Broque Madame, Mario performs Luiginary Flame repeatedly. He has three lives, and each mistake costs him one life. Running out of lives causes the game to end. The game starts as normal, though the fireball has a slower starting speed and Luiginoids only appear in groups. Each successful pass grants one point, plus an additional point for every prior successful pass in the round. At the end, Mario uses his hammer to launch the fireball at Broque Madame. A successful hit launches a single fireball at Broque Madame that shatters into multiple fireballs, and grants a 20 point bonus. A missed attack scatters the flame. Only a smaller fireball will hit Broque Madame for a 10 point bonus. (If that mistake costs the player their last life, the bonus points are not gained.) Either way, a new round of the attack begins, but Mario starts automatically instead of waiting for a press. At 999 points, the attack immediately ends.
After two rounds, the game introduces a twist. Some spots will have a single Fire Luiginoid. Mario pairs up with this Luiginoid, and the player must press and at the same time to pass the fireball.
Description[edit]
