Pedal to the Paddle is a Bowser Jr. minigame in Mario Party 9. The name is a pun on the phrase "pedal to the metal." This minigame is set in New Super Mario Bros. Wii's airship levels.

Introduction[edit]

The players and Bowser Jr. jump from wooden platforms to wheels with five platforms each.

Gameplay[edit]

The pair must try to reach the finish before Bowser Jr. by jumping on the platforms to make the wheel progress. Players must keep jumping to the rightmost platform so that weight pushes the wheel toward the goal. At the bottom of the screen is a meter that shows how close players are to the end. If a player falls off the wheel, they will reappear in a bubble a few seconds later. The player will automatically free themself from the bubble. Whoever is operating the wheel that reaches the end first is the winner.

Ending[edit]

If the players are victorious, the captain (or the player closer to the goal platform's center) does a ground pound on a switch. Bowser Jr. looks surprised, and then his entire wheel falls off, causing him to scream as he falls. The players strike victory poses. If Bowser Jr. is victorious, he laughs evilly.
