Bats are enemies from the game Donkey Kong on the Game Boy. Bats make their first appearance in stage 4-5 in the Jungle. They fly horizontally across the screen. When they hit Mario, they hang onto him and appear to suck a little bit of blood out of him. Mario's face turns white (in the colored Super Game Boy version) and he falls off the rope he is currently climbing. After falling to the ground, Mario gets up again. Mario can also get defeated by the bats if he falls too far after dropping from the rope.

Bats are enemies that appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong. They fly in a straight horizontal line across the screen from a small nest, making a minor descent and changing direction whenever they pass one of the level's margins, usually traveling past ropes.

Whenever Bats fly into Mario, they cause Mario to fall off the rope he is currently climbing. In the GBA original, they do this by hanging onto and throttling Mario, and he can either survive crashing onto the ground or lose a life, depending on the height reached where the enemy intercepted him. In the Switch remake, it merely bumps into Mario, and height falls only stun him.

In the remake, Bats also more closely resemble Dorakyū from Game Boy Donkey Kong.
