Level 2-1 is the first level of Donkey Kong Jungle in Mario vs. Donkey Kong and its remake. The high score for this level in the original version is 29000. In the Nintendo Switch remake, the target time for this level's Time Attack is 40.00.
Overview[edit]
In the GBA version only, the level opens with a cinematic showing Mario climbing on ropes to collect a Present.
The player starts next to some ropes they must climb up to get onto a platform. The player then needs to jump and climb up several more ropes, climbing up above the locked door to reach a blue Color Switch. By pressing the Color Switch, the player can reach the Key below, then use the Springboard to jump back up and reach the locked door.
In the second area, the player needs to climb a ladder while avoiding the Tane Pakkun's fire projectiles. Then the player needs to swing and jump from a wire, which will have them collect a 1-Up Mushroom and reach a blue Color Switch. After pressing the Color Switch, the player needs to climb back down the ladder and progress through the newly opened wall. The player then needs to climb up a series of ropes while avoiding three Tane Pakkuns to reach the Mini-Mario at the top.
In the remake, a Help Box is added near the ropes in the second area, teaching the player how to perform a Two-Handed Climb.
