History
The tournament is hosted in Diamond City Stadium, and its 18 stages are spread across Diamond City. These stages are spread across three (later four) leagues, each based on specific inputs for the involved microgames. Each of the first three leagues, the Mash League, Twist League, and Touch League, has five stages to complete. The stages of each league must be completed in sequential order, but the player can complete the leagues in any order or partially complete a league before switching to another. The first stage of each of these leagues is hosted by Wario, features microgames he made, and takes place in a dedicated location. These are the Mash League Arena, the Twist League Arena, and the Touch League Arena. The remaining stages of these leagues are hosted by one or more of Wario's friends from WarioWare, Inc., who have also created microgames. After completing a stage, the host(s) direct the player to challenge the next stage of its league, if any. The final league, the Ultra League, is only added after completing the prior three leagues, and only has three stages. The final stage has the participant challenge Wario for the prize.
History
Wario creates the Wario Bowl to regain money after realizing he is completely broke. It is inspired by a news report about the popularity and sales of Super Pyoro. Wario announces the tournament via a video he makes that is displayed on a screen in Diamond City. Wario also calls his friends to create the microgames.

Shortly after Wario steals the Pot of Luxeville from Luxeville, he comes to the realization that he is completely broke, and realizes that he needs to make some quick cash. Soon, he sees a news reporter, Ben, announcing a game called Super Pyoro being a big success. This gives Wario a new idea for a "get-rich-quick" scheme, and he uses his laptop to broadcast to all of Diamond City. He announces that he is hosting the greatest video-game tournament of all time, and claims that although the fee for entering is 10,000 coins, the grand prize is 10 million coins. Wario then calls up his friends, persuading them to make the games for him.
With the event established, Wario heads to Diamond City Stadium. From a room with computers and the Alien Bunnies, he uses the stadium's jumbotron to explain the rules and structure to the crowd of people gathered to participate. The first time the player completes a stage of the Wario Bowl, Wario explains where the microgames are from. The Wario Bowl brings in oodles of money for Wario. Wario expects half of the gamers to give up, but when he checks he finds that they have completed eight of the stages. After the player completes the Mash, Twist, and Touch Leagues, Wario adds the Ultra League to the Wario Bowl. As part of the announcement, he bungee jumps off a balcony in Diamond City Stadium.

Shortly after, Wario arrives at the Diamond City Stadium, which is full of cheering participants. Wario declares that the tournament has started and explains the rules, which involve three leagues: a Mash League, a Twist League, and a Touch League. After all three leagues have been mastered, the player will have to face against Wario himself. Throughout the tournament, Wario relaxes, unaware that Lulu is plotting revenge on him in the meantime.
When the player clears the first two stages of the Ultra League and returns to Diamond City Stadium for the final stage and the prize, Wario claims the prize for himself. With the help of an Alien Bunny, Wario affixes the Pot of Luxeville to his head and becomes Wario Deluxe. He uses a basket attached to a set of balloons to float high above Diamond City Stadium, then fights the player. Midway through, Wario Deluxe uses his powers to prevent the player from seeing the guide depicting the inputs for the incoming microgames. Lulu later appears to help the player win, by popping some of Wario Deluxe's balloons then jumping up to Wario Deluxe to try and pull the pull the pot off his head. Lulu's interference stops Wario Deluxe's powers.

During a later cutscene, Wario is shown just waking up, feeling confident that many people have already given up. Shocked and enraged that eight levels have already been cleared, he falls asleep again. After all three leagues have been conquered, Wario taunts the player and bungee jumps off his balcony as a publicity stunt, announcing that another league, which he calls the Ultra League, must be completed before he can be battled.
After all of his microgames have been completed, Wario Deluxe loses. His balloons pop and he and Lulu fall to the ground. Lulu takes back the Pot of Luxeville, reverting Wario Deluxe to Wario. Wario's friends arrive asking for their payment. While Wario tries to run away, a short scuffle ensues ending with them taking Wario's suitcase full of the money from the Wario Bowl. Most of it was spent, with Wario implying the balloons Wario Deluxe used made up some of the expenses. The employees split the remaining coins amongst themselves and Wario. They also give the player 10,000 coins. The player winds up with the Wario Bowl trophy.

Upon clearing the Ultra League, Wario refuses to hand over the money, and affixes the Pot of Luxeville to his head, which turns him into Wario Deluxe. Standing on a platform attached to balloons, he floats into the air, beginning his fight with the player. Halfway through, Lulu helps the player by attempting to pull the pot off his head, which prevents him from releasing anymore distractions.
Tournament rules
Tournament ID
The player's Save Data is represented by their Tournament ID. It has space for a name and an picture, both of which are filled in by selecting a Mii. Doing so is required, as each Save Data must have a Mii. This is enforced because Save Data can only be created through confirming Mii selection.

After all of his microgames have been completed, Wario Deluxe falls and demands to know how the girl is. She responds that she is Lulu, who had come from Luxeville to take back the pot that he had stolen from them. Using her Hydrocannon LX, she knocks the pot off his head, turning him back into Wario. She then reveals that the pot is actually a toilet which had been put out to dry shortly before it had been stolen. Wario, not caring anymore, simply tells her to take it and leave.
Tournament fee
An entrance fee of 10,000 coins is required when the player accesses Story mode for the first time. WarioWare Gold gives the player this amount of money when starting up the game for the first time, with the only unlocked option on the main menu being Story mode. Therefore, these coins are only usable to pay the entrance fee.

Wario starts the end credits and tells the player to leave, but is interrupted by everyone he had asked to make games for him. They demand that they receive their pay, to which Wario considers but then refuses, attempting to run away. He trips and drops the suitcase, which reveals a few coins. They chide him for trying to steal, but quickly realize that they are short on pay. Although a prize of 10 million coins was promised, Wario spent most of it on balloons and the rest was split evenly among everyone else, leaving the player with only 10,000 coins. This ends both the Wario Bowl and the game.
Leagues
The Wario Bowl is made up of four different leagues, each of which has a different set of inputs for their microgames. There is a stage for each of the five genres introduced prior to the Ultra League in every league except the Ultra League.
*Mash League: Has five stages. They are hosted by and feature microgames from the following people in the following order: Wario, Jimmy T, Mona, Dribble & Spitz, and 5-Volt. The player must use 3ds, 3ds, or both to complete the microgames.
*Twist League: Has five stages. They are hosted by and feature microgames from the following people in the following order: Wario, Ashley & Red, Dr. Crygor, 18-Volt, and Penny. The player must tilt the Nintendo 3DS and sometimes press 3ds to complete the microgames.
*Touch League: Has five stages. They are hosted by and feature microgames from the following people in the following order: Wario, Kat & Ana, 9-Volt, Young Cricket & Master Mantis, and Orbulon. The player must use a stylus or a finger to tap or slide across the Touch Screen to complete the microgames.
*Ultra League: Has three stages. The microgames in each stage can use any of the three inputs from the prior leagues, with no rules dictating the order in which microgames using different inputs can appear. However, the inputs used for each microgame is indicated by the guide before it begins. All of the prior characters, excluding Wario, split up into two groups based on the genre of their microgames: The Dancing Team has everyone with That's Life and Sports microgames, and the Potluck Gang has everyone with Fantasy and Nintendo Classics microgames. Each group hosts one stage, which reuses the microgames from the involved characters. Mike and Fronk are part of both groups, adding their microgames to both stages. Mike's microgames introduce the mic as a input for microgames. Wario Deluxe hosts the final stage, which is a battle against him. His stage consists of new microgames which can use the Mash, Twist, or Touch inputs. Three of them additionally call for the mic. Wario's microgames are included, as is Tread Carefully from Fronk.

“Listen up! Hey! Hey, you people ready for THE... MOST... DELUXE tournament ever? Let the Wario Bowl games begin! [crowd stays silent] Hey! You guys hear me? START CHEERING NOW!”
Wario, WarioWare Gold
The Wario Bowl trophy

The Wario Bowl is a video game tournament hosted by Wario in WarioWare Gold. It involves playing microgames. Alien Bunnies are staff for tournament.[1] The Wario Bowl's entrance fee is 10,000 coins, and the grand prize is 10 million coins. The Wario Bowl is livestreamed.[2] The Wario Bowl forms the structure of the game's story mode, with the player as one of the entrants.

History[edit]

Wario creates the Wario Bowl to regain money after realizing he is completely broke. It is inspired by a news report about the popularity and sales of Super Pyoro. Wario announces the tournament via a video he makes that is displayed on a screen in Diamond City. Wario also calls his friends to create the microgames.

Tournament rules[edit]

Tournament ID[edit]

The player's Save Data is represented by their Tournament ID. It has space for a name and an picture, both of which are filled in by selecting a Mii. Doing so is required, as each Save Data must have a Mii. This is enforced because Save Data can only be created through confirming Mii selection.

Tournament fee[edit]

An entrance fee of 10,000 coins is required when the player accesses Story mode for the first time. WarioWare Gold gives the player this amount of money when starting up the game for the first time, with the only unlocked option on the main menu being Story mode. Therefore, these coins are only usable to pay the entrance fee.

Leagues[edit]

The Wario Bowl is made up of four different leagues, each of which has a different set of inputs for their microgames. There is a stage for each of the five genres introduced prior to the Ultra League in every league except the Ultra League.

 • Mash League: Has five stages. They are hosted by and feature microgames from the following people in the following order: Wario, Jimmy T, Mona, Dribble & Spitz, and 5-Volt. The player must use +Control Pad, A Button, or both to complete the microgames.
 • Twist League: Has five stages. They are hosted by and feature microgames from the following people in the following order: Wario, Ashley & Red, Dr. Crygor, 18-Volt, and Penny. The player must tilt the Nintendo 3DS and sometimes press A Button to complete the microgames.
 • Touch League: Has five stages. They are hosted by and feature microgames from the following people in the following order: Wario, Kat & Ana, 9-Volt, Young Cricket & Master Mantis, and Orbulon. The player must use a stylus or a finger to tap or slide across the Touch Screen to complete the microgames.
 • Ultra League: Has three stages.

Genres[edit]

There are eight genres of microgames in the Wario Bowl.

 • Intro Games: the genre for all of Wario's microgames. All microgames in this genre are simpler than other microgames, introducing the player to the Mash, Twist, and Touch inputs. They all involve Wario.
 • Sports: the genre for Jimmy T's, Dr. Crygor's, and Young Cricket & Master Mantis's microgames. All microgames in this genre involve sports.
 • That's Life: the genre for Mona's, Penny's, and Kat & Ana's microgames. All microgames in this genre involve daily activities.
 • Fantasy: the genre for Dribble & Spitz's, Ashley & Red's, and Orbulon's microgames. All microgames in this genre involve elements of fantasy or science fiction.
 • Nintendo Classics: the genre for 5-Volt's, 18-Volt's, and 9-Volt's microgames. All microgames in this genre involve products and games created by Nintendo. Menus often shorten the name to Nintendo.

Ultra League exclusive genres[edit]

 • Mic: the genre for Mike's microgames. All microgames in this genre involve the use of the mic.
 • Pop-Up: the genre for Fronk's microgames. All microgames in this genre have much less time given to be completed. They involve Fronk or the Fronks.
 • Anything Goes: the genre for Wario Deluxe's microgames. All microgames in this genre involve Wario, but have no broader theme or structure.
