Piranha Sprouts[1] are Piranha Plants that appear only in Piranha Grove in Yoshi's Story. They look like buds of a Piranha Plant with green feet. Despite this, they only stand in place, turning to face any nearby Baby Yoshi and chomping their mouths when one gets close. Piranha Sprouts, like Piranha Pests, are able to shrink anything that escapes from their mouths. The only way of defeating a Piranha Sprout is by shooting it with an egg or crushing it with a Bocci Ball.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, these Piranha Plants are mentioned briefly by Viridi in the Palutena's Guidance dialogue for Piranha Plant.
