Trench Tucks are Snowmad enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. As members of the Tuck platoon in the Snowmad army, they physically resemble penguins. Any Trench Tuck is adorned just like Pointy Tucks, in that it wears a large metal helmet with two very sharp horns, as well as a leather lace around its neck, which hangs a Snowmad insignia that lodges on the penguin's chest. However, a specific feature for the Trench Trucks is represented by their wooden circular shields, which they are always seen carrying.
Trench Tucks walk from side to side and carry the shield in front of them. The shield blocks any Roll Attack from the Kongs and pushes them back a bit. The impact also sends the enemy back a few spaces, but it can never be driven off the edge of a platform. Like Pointy Tucks, Trench Tucks are harmful to jump on due to the spiky long horns embedded in their helmets.

The primary protection of Trench Tucks consists of the aforementioned shields. By covering their front sides with these shields, they become able to dodge every one of the Kong's roll attacks coming from the front. By executing this action as stated, the primates end up bumping into the shields without granting any damage to the peguin enemies. However, as the shields are meant to prevent any contact between the Kongs and the Trench Tucks, neither the heroes get damaged when interfering with these foes. Like Pointy Tucks, Trench Tucks are dangerous to step on, because of the spiky long horns thrusted in their helmets and pointing upwards. As such, jumping on a Pointy Tuck causes the heroes to lose a heart from their health meter.
The Kongs can Ground Pound near a Trench Tucks to make it drop the shield and leave an opening for a frontal Roll Attack. More direct ways to attack a Trench Tucks include rolling into it from behind, bouncing off its head with Cranky Kong's cane, tossing a projectile such as a barrel or a Water Sack, or ramming into it with Rambi, who can surpass the shield. Trench Tucks stop in place when shot with a popgun, but this will not make them drop their shield.

The Kongs alone can only undermine a Trench Tuck from behind, with a roll attack. A more tricky way to defeat a Trench Tuck is by pounding the ground near it and sending a shock to the enemy, who consequently startles, becomes dizzy and stunned, and drops its shield, leaving its front side open for a roll attack. However, the foe stays confused only temporarily, before rising up and picking up its shield. Alternatively, a Trench Tuck can be defeated by throwing a projectile at it, or by ramming into it with Rambi the Rhino, who can surpass its relatively weak shield. Shooting a Trench Tuck with a popgun merely stuns it for a brief moment.
Trench Tucks most often appear in levels with Rambi such as Frantic Fields and Meltdown Mayhem. A single Trench Tucks appears at the end of Rickety Rafters.

Variant of Pointy Tucks

Trench Tucks are enemies in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switch port. They are a variant of Tucks, more specifically, Pointy Tucks. Trench Tucks look identical to Pointy Tucks except for the rigid, wooden shield that they carry to defend against the Kongs.

Trench Tucks most often appear in levels with Rambi such as Frantic Fields and Meltdown Mayhem. A single Trench Tucks appears at the end of Rickety Rafters.
