Pata Mario is an original transformation that appears in Super Mario-kun. Attained by taking the wings from a Koopa Paratroopa, it allows Mario to fly. Super Mario Party Jamboree later depicts characters equipping a pair of wings similar to those of a Paratroopa for the same purpose, though it is not clear whether these are genuine Paratroopa wings or replicas.[1]

History[edit]

Super Mario-kun[edit]

In chapter 12 of volume 5, while fighting Koopa 3's troops, Mario tackles a Koopa Paratroopa, stealing his wings and becoming the winged Pata Mario. With the power of flight, Mario uses it to his advantage to run over the enemies, until he gets attacked by two Fire Snakes, losing the wings.

Super Mario Party Jamboree[edit]

In Super Mario Party Jamboree, the Paratroopa Flight School mode sees the characters using a pair of wings similar to a Koopa Paratroopa's to do the missions. The player takes direct control over a character's wings by spreading their arms out while holding the Joy-Con controllers, tilting, turning, and flapping them to maneuver the character.
