SandWorm is fought in a large sand pit that continually pulls [[Wario]] towards the center. Its main attack is spitting spiky balls at Wario; Wario can easily damage it with repeated punches. SandWorm cannot be stunned; when it loses one of its health skulls, it instead slashes after Wario with its scythe-like hands. Also, SandWorm may burrow to the center of the arena and start spitting many spiked balls in random directions. When this happens, the sand pit pulls Wario in much faster. If damaged enough, it will also strike back with more powerful moves, including slicing Wario with its hands. Defeating the SandWorm gives Wario access to Dinomighty.

The SandWorm also appears in [[Pecan Sands]], where its attacks are a bit faster, but it is fought and defeated in the same way.

Sandworm
Model from Wario World
First appearance Wario World (2003)

The Sandworm[1] (referred to as Big Scorper in the game's European website[2] despite this being the name of an unrelated enemy) is an antagonist in Wario World. It is a scythe-armed monster based mostly on antlion larvae, which make sand pits and have very large jaws, though the scythe arms of the Sandworm appear to reference the praying mantis, which has arms shaped like a scythe. The Sandworm is fought as a boss in a large quicksand pit at the end of Greenhorn Ruins and then later as an enemy in Pecan Sands. It attacks mainly by spitting spiked balls at Wario. Sandworm takes damage from being hit repeatedly, but it cannot be stunned. When the Sandworm loses a health skull, it becomes temporarily invincible and either slashes after Wario or burrows to the center of the arena to spit several spiked balls in random directions as the sand pit moves faster. The Sandworm slices with its arms at Wario as it becomes more damaged. Sandworm takes five hits to defeat, or four in Pecan Sands.
