Uptown, Downtown is the third level of the Bonus Episode in the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS versions of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. It is unlocked after completing Mine Cart Cascade Crusade, and is based on the Metro Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey.

Layout[edit]

The starting platform is some distance away from the rest of the level, similar to the Isolated Rooftop in New Donk City. All that is on the platform is a clear pipe cannon, which launches Captain Toad to the main portion of the level.

The main portion of the level is divided into two parts: the regular city, and the underground power plant. When Captain Toad lands in the road, two Hammer Bros. begin attacking, jumping between buildings, lampposts, and the street. Going into a building guarded by one of the Hammer Bros., a ramp inside leads upwards a level to the fire escape. Going up that and a ladder will put Captain Toad on the roof, where he can cross to the New Donk City Hall on a girder. Passing through city hall, Captain Toad can then step out into a box and onto a pair of girders, crossing to the building with the helipad. Dropping down onto a ledge and crossing a nearby beam will cause one end of the beam to fall, resulting in a ramp leading to the back of the building. Dropping off the platform, Captain Toad can then access a road with a moveable manhole that had been blocked off. Tapping the manhole and dropping down will bring Captain Toad to the Underground Power Plant, inhabited by Piranha Creepers. Proceeding left of the landing space will wake up the Piranha Creepers, making the power plant more dangerous to traverse. Going left past the first two Piranha Creepers and over a poison lake will bring Captain Toad to the main power room and a switch, which is being guarded by two more Piranha Creepers. Pulling the switch will activate the power for the city, bringing moving platforms to life. Leaving the awoken power plant via a pipe now accessible from a moving platform back near the landing spot will bring Captain Toad to a platform outside the helipad building. Getting on a now moving platform will take Captain Toad to the roof. Dropping onto a moving box, Captain Toad can then drop into the fenced off garden where Pluck Patches, a Super Pickax, and the Power Moon are located.

Super Gems[edit]

Three Super Gems can be found throughout the level.

  • Super Gem 1: Inside the New Donk City Hall, given by Hint Toad.
  • Super Gem 2: In the sewers under New Donk City, accessible once the plant has been activated.
  • Super Gem 3: On the highest level of the New Donk City Hall (outside).
