Cocoa Meltdown is the eighth level of the Special Episode in the Nintendo Switch version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Layout[edit]

The level takes place in a pastry/confectionary area with hazardous hot cocoa that occasionally rises and recedes. The player starts on a platform just above the level at which the hot cocoa rises, and must grab a Turnip from four Pluck Patches at a nearby hill, then use a rising candy cane platform to hit some Red POW Blocks with the Turnip, allowing them to proceed past the waffle cone stalagmites. Afterwards, the player will reach a section with Para-Biddybuds and more rising candy cane platforms, four of which must be used to continue onward. The player must traverse wafer ramps to a larger candy cane platform, which rises so that they can grab another Turnip from the adjacent platform. The player must then ride the large candy cane platform up to throw the Turnip at some more Red POW Blocks, dropping the box containing the Shiny Crown directly onto the spout of hot cocoa and allowing the player to collect it.

Super Gems[edit]

Three Super Gems can be found throughout the level.

  • Super Gem 1: Not long after the start of the level, inside a small hole surrounded by waffle cone stalagmites. The player must fall into the hole once the hot cocoa recedes to collect it.
  • Super Gem 2: In an alcove near the segment with Para-Biddybuds. The player must first use the four candy cane platforms in a row to exit the area, then immediately turn right, drop through a gap in the fence once the hot cocoa recedes, and then continue across the path to collect it.
  • Super Gem 3: Suspended above the hot cocoa near the trio of wafer ramps and the larger candy cane platform. The player must throw a Turnip from the ledge of the pink frosting platform directly adjacent to the large candy cane platform to collect it.
