Birds appearing in Wario Land II have slim, torpedo-like bodies, and are light-blue with a reddish-orange beak in the Game Boy Color-enhanced version. When Wario approaches them, they charge at him in a straight line. When they hit Wario, he will lose some of his coins and be thrown back. Unlike other enemies, birds respawn when the screen is not focused on their original spot.
The birds of Kitchen Island in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 are relatively huge in size, being as tall as Wario. They hover in the air and wait for Wario to be in range, before they swoop down to attack him with their sharp talons. Wario could counter their attack by either jumping on top of them or simply avoiding the attack. Birds are commonly found in places where they are a great hindrance, like over bottomless pits or near platforms that fall down when Wario stands to long on them. Their attack pattern bears resemblance to that of the Demon Bat, another enemy in the same game.

The birds' relation to the Brown Sugar Pirates is unclear in this game, since they show no signs of being pirates. However, the SS Tea Cups guard, Bobo could summon birds in battle to attack Wario, indicating that they may have teamed up with the pirates. It is also possible however, that Bobo can summon them just because he is basically a bird as well.
It appears that birds are regular animals in this game, rather than members of the Black Sugar Gang.

Birds with a different appearance can be found in Wario Land 3 as well. They are more pudgy in this installment and they come in two colours, namely blue and orange. Their behaviour is similar to that of the previous Birds, meaning that they will attack in a straight line when they spot Wario. What will happen upon impact depends on the colour of the attacking Bird. Blue Birds will cause Wario to be propelled backwards while the orange ones will transform him into Crazy Wario, so he has to be healed with water before the player can proceed.

Latest appearance Wario Land 3 (2000)

Birds[1][2] are avian creatures that Wario commonly encounters during his adventures in the Wario Land series, specifically in Wario Land II and Wario Land 3. The appearance of the birds changes between the two installments, but their function is very similar. They attack Wario by charging at him.

History[edit]

Wario Land II[edit]

Birds appearing in Wario Land II have slim, torpedo-like bodies, and are light-blue with a reddish-orange beak in the Game Boy Color-enhanced version. When Wario approaches them, they charge at him in a straight line. When they hit Wario, he will lose some of his coins and be thrown back. Birds can be defeated by jumping on their heads and sometimes Wario has to take advantage of this, using them as stepping stones to reach higher locations. Unlike other enemies, birds respawn when the screen is not focused on their original spot.

It appears that birds are regular animals in this game, rather than members of the Black Sugar Gang.

Wario Land 3[edit]

Some birds in the third Wario Land title

Birds with a different appearance can be found in Wario Land 3 as well. They are more pudgy in this installment and they come in blue and orange. Like in the previous game, they charge at Wario if he is in front or behind them, turning around if he is behind. If hit, blue birds cause Wario to be stunned and knocked backwards, while orange ones cause Wario to be Crazy Wario. If Wario is hit by a bird, it will fly back to its original position, but if he dodges a rushing bird, it will keep going without stopping, though it will return to position if their original position is off-screen. With the exception of the beak, the bird is vulnerable to most forms of attack. The orange birds only appear in The Grasslands, where there are six of them in the level, while the blue birds appear in more levels.

Blue birds appear in the following levels, in the following quantities:
