Mona Pizza is a song that serves as the advertisement jingle for the restaurant of the same name in the WarioWare series, first heard in Mona's level in WarioWare: Twisted! It is sung in-universe by the pop idol Sal Out.

History[edit]

WarioWare series[edit]

WarioWare: Twisted![edit]

The Mona Pizza Record

In WarioWare: Twisted!, Mona Pizza is heard over the commercial that plays for the entirety of the gameplay portion in Mona's level, even over the microgames aside from the boss microgame. The first half of the song is sung by Sal Out, with various comments by Joe, some of which are in Italian. The second half of the song features The Dinosaurs from Pizza Dinosaur, who disparage Mona Pizza and brag that their mediocre pizza sells better because they have more locations.

The song also appears in the form of a souvenir, located in the Records folder. In addition, the Violin souvenir teaches the player how to play Mona Pizza on the instrument, and the Pizza Music Box plays the song when wound up.

The English version of the song is in a slightly lower key than the Japanese version. This is also the case in Touched!, but not in Gold or the Super Smash Bros. series.

English lyrics[edit]

This here is Mona Pizza!
Makers of the world's best eats-a!
Fresh sauce and cheese galo-ore,
Brought straight to your front do-or! (Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum!)

This here is Mona Pizza! (Buon giorno!)
Makers of all tasty treats-a! (Buono!)
Our pie's crispy, crunchy cru-ust, (Bellissima!)
Leaves others in the du-ust. (Mamma mia!)

Grab a hot slice and take a big bite!
It's so good that you'll start a fight for more...

Mona Pizza! (I'm the manager of this joint!)
Mona Pizza! (My name is Joe!)
Mona Pizza! (It's a pizza art!)
Mona Pizza! (I said a "pizza art", ahahahaha!)

We represent Pizza Dinosaur!
We got the most stores in the world!
Our crust is tough and our sauce is thin,
But we're everywhere so you gotta give in!

Mona Pizza's got nothing on us,
'Cause we've got six thousand stores plus!
Pizza Dinosaur!
Pizza Dinosaur!
Wahahahahha! Wahahahahha!

WarioWare: Touched![edit]

The Mona Pizza Toy from WarioWare: Touched!

A subtitled version of the original Mona Pizza song (complete with a picture slideshow featuring limited animation) is unlockable in the form of a secret "Mona Pizza" souvenir in WarioWare: Touched! The video features Mona riding on her scooter as well as appearances by her animals, Sal Out, Joe, and Pizza Dinosaur.

The souvenir is unlocked by having WarioWare: Twisted! inserted in the Game Boy Advance slot of the Nintendo DS. As WarioWare: Twisted! was not released in Europe, the souvenir is not unlockable in the European version of WarioWare: Touched!, although it is still present in the game's data.[1] The Chinese version of the game instead has the souvenir unlocked by having WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! in the GBA slot, since WarioWare: Twisted! was also not released in China.[1] There are no localized GBA games released in South Korea at all, so it is unknown if it is possible to unlock this souvenir in the Korean version of WarioWare: Touched! normally.[citation needed]

As the Nintendo 3DS no longer includes the GBA cartridge slot, the Mona Pizza souvenir cannot be unlocked when played on the 3DS or on the My Nintendo-exclusive digital download version of WarioWare: Touched!

Although the Nintendo DS hardware allowed DS games to use GBA cartridges' functions, the North American and Japanese versions of the Mona Pizza souvenir do not support twist controls or haptic feedback.

WarioWare: Smooth Moves[edit]

An excerpt of Mona Pizza appears in the second stage of the microgame Castanet, First Chair in WarioWare: Smooth Moves.

WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase[edit]

WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase features a record called "Mona ★ Pizza", made by 18-Volt.

WarioWare Gold[edit]

The uncompressed version of the song appears for the first time in WarioWare Gold, where it can be unlocked by using the Capsule Machine. It is located in the Records category. The Japanese version can also be obtained in all versions. In this game, the Japanese music instrumentation is used for the English version as well as the Japanese one.

WarioWare: Get It Together![edit]

While the song itself does not appear in WarioWare: Get It Together!, the countermelody of the second half of the music heard in Mona's portion of the staff credits is an instrumental arrangement of the repeated melody of the song's first two verses. Additionally, the short tune heard when Mona takes out her boomerang in the introduction to her level, That's Life, is based on the same melody. An excerpt of Mona Pizza also appears in the microgame Music Mischief.

Donkey Konga 3 JP[edit]

Mona Pizza is one of the tracks featured in Donkey Konga 3 JP.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]

An arranged version of the song also appears in both English - in an edited version - and Japanese in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, under the name "Mona Pizza's Song". It was arranged by then-Game Arts composer Takahiro Nishi. In the English version, Sal Out's vocals are provided by Christina Peyser while the Pizza Dinosaur employees' vocals are done by Nate Bihldorff and Andy Hartpence. The arrangement is absent in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U but returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
