Before I start, is the name official? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 09:03, 14 October 2007 (EDT)
Yes. It is official. I just got the latest issue of Nintendo Power yesterday and it refers to the form as Ice Mario. --King Boo 18:34, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
Baby Mario & Luigi?[edit]
I just saw that under what it says who uses the item, it shows Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. I never have seen a moment when those two characters used the Ice Flower ever in the Mario series. Superjustin 15:18, 19 May 2010 (EDT)
In Mario & Luigi Partners in Time the Ice Flower is a bros item and can be used by all four brothers. That includes Baby Mario and Baby Luigi.--Ultimate Gamer
The babies are in Mario and Luigi Partners in Time. I think that game actually had the ice flower's first appearance, but I don't know.--Louistime
- This is Ice Mario, not Ice Flower... Mario JC
Yoshi can eat ice balls![edit]
I tried this an ice ball in yoshi's mouth and it worked! 14:09, 28 July 2014 (EDT) Daisy 187
Split between Super Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros. Wii forms[edit]

Ice Mario is dissimilar in practically every way since its debut in Super Mario Galaxy, and only have the name and Ice Flower in common. Not only that, but the back of the original (Australian) New Super Mario Bros. Wii box labels it as an all-new power-up. I believe these details are sufficient for splitting Ice Mario.

Support[edit]
- LinkTheLefty (talk) Proposal.
- Tails777 (talk) Per proposal. Different uses and even a different look so I think it's a good reason to split them up.
- Bazooka Mario (talk) Rainbow Mario and Invincible Mario are already split and those arguably share less differences compared to the differences between these two Ice Marios, so I think it's a logical split.
- SuperYoshiBros (talk) Per Bazooka Mario.
- Magikrazy (talk) It's not just the Australian boxart. The North American box shows Ice Mario on the back under a section labeled "new power-ups". Per all.
- Walkazo (talk) - Per LinkTheLefty and Bazooka Mario. The differences far outweigh the lack of a name change in any region.
- PowerKamek (talk) Per Bazooka Mario and Walkazo.
- LudwigVon (talk) Per all. Like Magikrazy say, the North American box art shows Ice Mario in the "new power-ups" section.
- Pyro Guy (talk) As LinkTheLefty says, the only difference is the look of the power-up and the name.
- Lumastar (talk) While they do come from using the same power-up, this is not the only example. The two power-ups act differently, and the fact that multiple regions called Ice Mario's appearance in the New Super Mario Bros. series a new power-up (it was on at least the NA official site as well, with the Ice Flower being labeled as NEW). Per all.
- Yoshi876 (talk) Per all.
- Binarystep (talk) Per all.
- Andymii (talk) Yeah, they're completely different. Per all.
- Icemario (talk) Even the Icemario agrees, per all.
- Pseudo-dino (talk) Per all.
- The Super Mario Super User (talk) Per all
- UltraMario3000 (talk) Per all. Why these 2 were in the same page for so long beats me. :P
Oppose[edit]
Comments[edit]
It actually looks like just about every region lists it as new on the back of the box... I just grabbed the first one that came up as an example. LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:20, 28 June 2015 (EDT)
Oh, wait, before we split, what are the article names going to be? Ice Mario and Ice Mario (Super Mario Galaxy)? It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:01, 28 June 2015 (EDT)
- Seems like the best option to me, considering the "standard" Ice Mario outnumbers the other one in appearances and how the SMG Ice Mario appears only in SMG. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Question about the split[edit]
Sooo, since we split the two types of Ice Marios into separate articles based on the fact that they're different, does that mean that we have to merge Raccoon and Tanooki Mario; and Invincible Mario and Rainbow Mario; based on the fact that they're so similar? - Ericss (talk) 15:37, 26 April 2017 (EDT)
- No, because those have different properties between them as well. Tanooki Mario can turn into a statue, and Rainbow Mario's speed increases as he runs. 15:41, 26 April 2017 (EDT)
- Edit conflict, Alex! Anyway, he's right. Raccoon Mario and Tanooki Mario have different appearances and abilities. Raccoon Mario doesn't have the full suit like Tanooki does and Tanooki turns into a statue (Super Mario Bros. 3) or doesn't fly (Super Mario 3D World). Invincible Mario and Rainbow Mario are different too. Rainbow Mario can't have other power-ups while invincible, doesn't earn 1-Ups for defeating enough enemies, lasts longer, breaks objects, and runs faster as time goes on.

- Fair enough on Racoon/Tanooki, but the Invincible/Rainbow differences you mentioned are pretty small and could be chalked up to the fact that Rainbow Mario appeared in Mario Galaxy, rather than a 2d game, so it worked a bit differently like you would expect. Even Fire Mario worked differently in Mario Galaxy, being timed and all. - Ericss (talk) 16:05, 26 April 2017 (EDT)
- Rainbow Star's separation is already discussed quite in detail here Ray Trace(T|C) 16:06, 26 April 2017 (EDT)
