Hole Hogs is a 1-vs.-Rivals minigame featured in Mario Party 9.

Introduction[edit]

The rivals are chased across a stone platform by the solo player. Several Monty Moles look out at the chase, then jump into their holes. The rivals then jump into the same holes the Monty Moles did, and the solo player stops chasing them.

Gameplay[edit]

The rivals attempt to score points by staying above the ground long enough without getting hit by the solo player's hammer. A rival has to stay above the surface for only one second to score. When a rival scores, a musical note appears over the hole they scored from. Monty Moles also pop up intermittently. If a rival is hit by the hammer, they are stunned temporarily. If there are three rivals, they must score 10 points, while if there are two rivals, they must score seven points. If there are not enough character faces on the bottom of the screen after time is up, the solo player wins. If the required number of character faces appears on the bottom of the screen within 30 seconds, the rivals win.

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"The solo player must hammer the other players before they can earn points. The other players earn points by staying aboveground without getting hit."

  • Controls (Team)"Hold the Wii Remote sideways. Press +Control Pad, One Button, or Two Button to choose a hole to pop out of. Earn a point every time you escape being hit. Fill the points meter at the bottom to win!"
