Giant Mario[1] is a power-up form that appears exclusively in the twenty-eighth episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Mario Meets Koop-zilla. The form is achieved by consuming Super Sushi, an invention created by Dr. T. Garden, which makes whoever does grow to a gigantic size. However, the effects can be reversed using the Super Sushi Shrinker.
In the episode, King Koopa steals the Super Sushi from Dr. T. Garden and uses it to transform into "Koop-zilla" and destroy the city of Sayonara. After many failed attempts to defeat him, Mario eats a new batch of Super Sushi and transforms into Giant Mario so he can take on Koop-zilla. However, during their battle, Dr. T. Garden informs Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad that he has created the Super Sushi Shrinker as an antidote for the Super Sushi, after Toad points out that if the battle continues, then there will be no city left. Eventually, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad jab Koop-zilla with a large needle filled with Super Sushi Shrinker as he charges towards Giant Mario. Reverted back to normal size, Koop-zilla flees via a portal created by a Magical Potion. After the fight, Mario has reverted back to normal size off-screen and returns to Dr. T. Garden's laboratory with the others, where he eats a Shrinking Sukiyaki and shrinks to a miniscule size.
Giant Mario overall appears the same as normal Mario, wearing his usual blue shirt with a red cap and overalls, except he is the same size as Koop-zilla and has a giant round torso with a slight bigger head and limbs. The disproportionately bottom-heavy shape is likely a reference to the Tex Avery short "King-Size Canary."
