Pata Mario (パタマリオ) is an original transformation that appears in chapter 12 of Super Mario-kun volume 5. The name is derived from「パタパタ」(Patapata), the Japanese name of Koopa Paratroopas and an onomatopoeia for flapping sound.
While fighting Koopa 3's troops, Mario tackles a Koopa Paratroopa, stealing his wings and becoming the winged Pata Mario. With the power of flight, Mario uses it to his advantage to run over the enemies, until he gets attacked by two Fire Snakes, losing the wings.
