Track Cycling - Team Pursuit is an Event that appears exclusively in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. It is set in the Velodrome. The objective of the event is to get the greatest time difference with the other team. Waluigi, Shadow, Wario, and Dr. Eggman can be seen taking part in this event during the opening, and the starting record in the event is held by Team Wario at 1:22.422.
Gameplay
The event starts out with a chart of who the player is playing against, as well as another two competing. This chart is shown again after winning the first round (but not if it was lost) except with the winner of the other two in the center. After choosing positions for the characters, the announcer announces the teams. It then shows the team's starting line. Before the race starts, the player is able to hold or (depending on the play style) to charge up and get a short boost. When the word "Go" appears on screen, the player must swing down the Wii Remote (and Nunchuck) to start the event. Doing so with perfect timing grants the player a starting dash. The player in the front must then constantly shake the Wii Remote (and Nunchuck) as fast as possible to cause their team to have high speeds. Players not in the front tilt their Wii Remote (and Nunchuck) to the line to have high speeds. Characters have hearts for stamina the deplete while cycling. Players can restore the characters health by pressing and three other buttons shown above each character to send the character to the back. On the final lap, pressing causes the leader to leave and the other three characters make a push for the finish line. The team who crosses the line first is declared the winner. The player can also be declared the winner if they pass the other team, but no time is recorded. After a match, the announcer announces the winner or how the player did.
