Mimic is a treasure-chest enemy originating from Dragon Quest III with sharp teeth and a tongue in Mario Hoops 3-on-3, available only in Bloocheep Sea. The chest tries to chomp the player who has the ball by chasing them around the course. Sometimes, Mimics instead spit out many Red Coins and Gold Coins upon being used.

Mimics also make occasional appearances in the downloadable Dragon Quest stage Yggdrasil's Altar in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, disguising themselves as the normal treasure chests found on the floating platforms. When attacked, they reveal themselves and lunge in front of them, dealing great damage. Afterwards, they wander about on the platform attacking any fighters within range, though they can be defeated if attacked enough, after which it leaves behind an item.
