Template:SSB Infobox Alph is one of the three playable explorers in Pikmin 3, bearing resemblance to Captain Olimar from the previous Pikmin installments. He appears as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, being an alternative costume to Captain Olimar, instead of taking up his own icon on the character selection screen. As with other alternative costumes, the game does not acknowledge him as a separate character from Olimar in battle records and miscellaneous ways such as Classic Mode, except for the announcer, crowd, and character selection saying and displaying his name. He shares this trait with the Koopalings - the alternate costumes of Bowser Jr. - who are also named, but not acknowledged as separate characters.

Trivia
- According to design documents, at one point during development Alph was being considered as being a full separate playable character; he would have been a clone of Olimar, except with the addition of utilizing Rock Pikmin.[1]
- He is the only playable character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U to debut on the Wii U console.
