Owl, Donkey Kong 64

The Owl[1][2] is a character and the namesake representation of his real-life species in Donkey Kong 64. The Owl lives in the big tree in Fungi Forest. He wears a green racing shirt. The Owl first has to be awoken by Guitar Gazump before the player character can race him, similarly to another non-playable character racer, the Rabbit. The Owl can only be encountered at night, but will not talk to Diddy if his Rocketbarrel Boost move is not active. The Owl, in similar vein to the Buzzard in Angry Aztec, leaves behind rings and challenges Diddy to fly through them, though Diddy loses if he misses three rings, and tree branches are obstructions along the way. When Diddy completes the course, the Owl feels disappointed that his obstacle course was not as hard as thought it was, but a Bonus Barrel then spawns at the top of the tree, not a Golden Banana like with most other non-playable characters.
