RE:Last Warning

Hello, Annieflower678 is my sister and she hates me. She did the FA nomination thing for fun, we have to share the same computer at home, and most importantly, I`m not sockpuppeting. It maybe was a mistake, but is everything cool? Spenzer66 (talk)

Trivia Guidelines Passed

I saw that the proposal has passed and the draft is now complete with your ideas added. I guess I'll make the page right now, and maybe you or another user can help me with the grammar, you know. ¢oincollctor rsitem209.png

Oh, well, I admit I'm not the best speaking English (oviously is not my original language), but OK, make the changes if necessary. As for the title, I was thinkin about it right now, but I guess saying just "Trivia" is more accessible.

My Warning

Hi Walkazo,

recently GreenDisaster gave me a warning, which so far as memory could serve, was not done by me. I was accused of removing his comment, him proving this by sharing with me the recent changes. However, when I checked the recent changes from a separate link, it was not the case, with someone else removing the comment. I don't want to involve you but GD hasn't replied yet and since I'm down on my last or so warning I want to remove it straight away. Here's a link to all this: [1] Check my talk page (only 1 page long) to see his warning. Hope you can help and thanks, JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 14:58, 3 September 2012 (EDT)

Thank you for your quick answer, much appreciated. I might as well appeal it, I've got nothing to lose. Yes you are right, nothing was intentional but I don't think GD will accept that somehow. First thing tomorrow I will try. Again thanks, JackpotPersonolisedMiion3DS.JPGJordan 16:40, 3 September 2012 (EDT)

Opera Finn

I don't really get why they renamed the page. They could clearly see the title on the box, right? --SmartieMaxx (talk) 21:15, 7 September 2012 (EDT)

I can answer this one - or maybe the person already knows, but yet is just ignorant that we are to be consistent with the final titles that Nintendo puts on the game boxes like with New Super Mario Bros. 2. Regardless, Opera Finn is blocked for three months now and has already been notified by Walkazo to cease and decist this nonsense; otherwise, their editing abilities will be revoked permanently. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 21:19, 7 September 2012 (EDT)
Maybe they were misinformed, maybe they simply thought their name was better, or maybe they were just trollin'... Who knows? Who cares? I don't: they were warned, and now they're blocked, so that's the end of that as far as I'm concerned. - Walkazo 21:23, 7 September 2012 (EDT)

Help

I'm trying to upload this image with transparency (I did it in GIMP) but even though I upload the right file I still have the blue background from the sprite sheet. And if I try to revert or try again the pics on the revision history are transparent. What should I do? YoshiCookie (talk) 10:15, 10 December 2015 (EST)

It only looks like the blue is still there: your computer's remembering the older version of the image. Just wait a bit and you'll see that the current version is transparent like the thumbnails in the revision history says it should be. It's already transparent for me (and other viewers), so no worries. - Walkazo 22:39, 8 September 2012 (EDT)
Thanks :) YoshiCookie (talk) 10:15, 10 December 2015 (EST)

RE: Minor edits policy

Your welcome, and it was a pleasure to be of some assistance. I thought that we needed a complete guideline in our policies, because I have witnessed a few cases where a user was confused about what counts as "Minor". And about the Notice Template policy, I apologise for not getting back to you. It's not that I forgot, but I thought that you would just got ahead with it. But yes, please do. Just let me know when a decision has been made.

I keep being banned by Raven Effect for no reason! Please let me create an account! I promise I won't be bad. And I'm NOT sockpuppeting! Benshee (talk)

Creating more than one account is sockpuppeting and that's what you're doing: the administration has tools to prove that you're Snifit 1 and various other accounts, so don't try to deny it. As Snifit 1 you vandalized pages repeatedly, including posting links to a website that gives viruses. That's unacceptable and because of that, you will never be allowed to create an account and edit here again. Your promises man nothing. Give up and go somewhere else. - Walkazo 23:17, 15 September 2012 (EDT)

Yoshi's Safari Koopalings

Hi.

When you said that the Koopalings were referred to as Bowser's kids in Yoshi's Safari, was this in the Japanese version as well? If it's English or International exclusive, we probably need to reword it again. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 22:18, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

I've only found the English box so far, but the whole "mistranslation" argument is flimsy at best, so it shouldn't matter: a fact's a fact. I'd be worth mentioning in the overall Koopaling page, but if you're talking about the seven specific articles, no, we don't have to reword 'em again, because the whole Japanese-vs-English thing is too nitty-gritty for those intros. All that really needs to be said in the specific character pages is that a couple official things called them Bowser's kids, but that the idea wasn't exactly given the spotlight, and now it's apparently been dropped altogether. The details can be saved for Koopalings#Family_Relationship. - Walkazo 22:31, 21 September 2012 (EDT)
Fine, although we'll still need LinkTheLefty to settle this issue. He's pretty well versed in Japanese, so he might be able to settle the issue. They may have been stated as such in the YS Japanese Manual, they may have not, but we really shouldn't presume anything until it is confirmed one way or another, that's why we need the Japanese line. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 22:38, 21 September 2012 (EDT)
Yes, but we're not presuming anything. The back of the box of the English version of Yoshi's Safari said they're "Bowser's offspring", which means we can't say "all post-SMB3 games ignore the relationship", just that "most" of them do so, and that's all that's being said on those pages. The language stuff stays on the Koopalings page where it can be properly discussed, and currently, nothing at all has been added about the Yoshi's Safari box anyway: I haven't had time yet, but when I do, I'll say "the English box". I'll still try to find the Japanese box, however: the more info, the better (and I've been studying Japanese in university, so I can actually translate stuff too, and do Google searches in Japanese, and whatnot - LTL's not our only resource for this matter). - Walkazo 22:56, 21 September 2012 (EDT)
Maybe, and the Super Mario World promotional materials also hinted in the English version that they were Bowser's Kids, even when the Japanese version does not mention it at all. Anyone can cite the English version as proof. Don't forget, in the English versions of the Sonic franchise, most of the games took place on a planet named Mobius until the release of Sonic Adventure revealed that it was actually a parallel Earth. Unless we have absolute proof about the Koopalings being referred to as Bowser's kids in the Japanese version, we really should not presume that the English versions did a direct translation of the Japanese materials for Yoshi's Safari. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 23:12, 21 September 2012 (EDT)
Again, I did not make any such presumption: I was just talking about the English box, I didn't say anything about it being a translation, nor did bring up the Japanese at all; I also wasn't using it as proof to try and argue they're siblings, just that something other than SMB3 and the cartoons/comics said they were at some point (back in the day). And don't you forget that all official info is equal, regardless of language, media type, or whatever. If there's a discrepancy between the English and the Japanese, that just means that there's a difference between the versions, not that one is wrong and one is right: making calls like that would be presumptuous of us. All we can do is present all the facts, conflicting though they may be; fortunately, the Koopalings page is doing a good job of it so far, and the individual articles have good broad-strokes summaries of their history. - Walkazo 23:32, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

Question

hey walkazo i have a question,it said in the Super Mario Bros. 2 manual states that Birdo is a male who thinks he's a female,is that true? please respond <:D --Zack213 (talk) 20:27, 27 September 2012 (EDT)

Yep, it's true. - Walkazo 22:03, 27 September 2012 (EDT)

ok but still birdo thinks hes a girl in 2012 or not? cause in her page its says that SHE is also playable in the Japanese game Itadaki Street DS, SHE is one of the opponents to defeat in the Japanese game Yakuman DS. i am so confused
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zack213 (talk).

I don't know about how those games portray her, but the Japan-only Captain Rainbow seemed to stick to the idea that Birdo was not born as a female, yet identifies that as her gender, and to my knowledge, all post-SMB2 English translations simply say she's female without getting into details. The exception to this is SMBB, which calls her "gender indeterminate" and uses the pronoun "it", but that's a rather uncouth take on the matter: the pronoun corresponding to the gender that someones identifies as is what should be used. So either way (whether natural-born or trans), Birdo is a "she", and around the wiki, we simply say she's female (going alone with the current English story), leaving this section to discus the full scope of the matter. - Walkazo 07:19, 1 October 2012 (EDT)

Canonicity

Hey Walkazo. I'm wondering if you could take the time to explain to me exactly what "canon" means, and how stuff is canonical or not. I've read MarioWiki:Canonicity and I've had the user Banon (talk) explain it to me, but I still don't fully understand it. Banon said that canon means something that "happened", but that seems like a different thing to what the policy is explaining. This isn't an urgent matter, so please reply whenever it suits you. I appreciate the help.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 03:55, 11 November 2012 (EST)

Different people and websites use "canon" differently, but around here it's simply anything that is officially part of the Mario series and its fictional universe. If something's licensed by Nintendo, it's Mario "canon" and is included on the wiki. The way we use "canon" has nothing to do with whether things all fit into one continuous timeline or whatever, since there are no official statements about this kinda stuff for us to work with, so anything we say would be made-up, and so, non-canon. Release dates and raw subseries divides are all we can really use to organize the articles, and we treat everything as genuine, equal and starring the same characters with no judgement calls about parallel universes, timelines, etc. Other franchises and/or their wikis have more wiggle room about calling things "canon" based on things like media type or even obscurity/strangeness of plot, and there can be different levels of canon. Most fans will come up with their own personal idea of what to accept and what to reject based on one thing or another, but for our wiki, what it or isn't canonical is fairly cut-and-dry. Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive article on canon (imo) if you want to read more: our wiki goes by the first meaning provided. Hopefully this cleared things up, but if you're still unsure about the concept, let me know and I'll keep trying =) - Walkazo 21:46, 11 November 2012 (EST)

Okay, so to recap it's official stuff recognised by Nintendo. How we order articles through the chronology, like character backgrounds with Baby Mario in Yoshi's Island which is not organized by release dates is non-canon. But what is the canon for Video game references, like if Nintendo isn't involved, we still cover it on some occasions like the Tiny Tower Mario reference. Where's the canon there?

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 00:23, 12 November 2012 (EST)

The "Background" sections are used for stuff that inarguably chronologically come before the first appearance's setting. (For an example, see Bowser#Background.) It's not "non-canon", because things like the Yoshi games did officially happen in the past, virtue of the presence of Baby characters, time travel or other plot points; explicit lines of dialogue or exposition, and/or by the setup itself (like Family Album "The Early Years"). What would be non-canon is if you said SMW2:YI was Mario's "true" infancy whereas Family Album isn't "real", or something like that, because that's a judgement call; however, simply presenting both as depictions of Mario's pre-Donkey Kong past in a "Background" section is still obeying the idea of canonicity because the events they depict happened before Donkey Kong: there's no speculation going into that statement. Backstories discussed (or shown as flashbacks) in present-set games can also be put in "Background" sections (i.e. Shadow Queen#Backstory), since the games themselves state that the stuff happened before their setting: can't get much more canon than that.
-
The reference pages aren't canon at all, they're just references made to Mario, and we talk about them because those references are still relevant to the series and its place in popular culture, even if none of it is actually part of the series. Cameos and references in other Nintendo series (or even stuff like Wreck-It Ralph, which obtained permission from Nintendo to use its property) are often included in sections of character articles as well as the reference pages as well (although it's an admittedly inconsistent effort), and full-on crossovers get full coverage. Things that aren't Mario games or crossovers but which have Mario characters featured prominently in them (or as I said here, making "guest appearances"), like Captain Rainbow or SSX on Tour, get partial coverage: the games get sections on character pages (and whatnot), and the games get articles, but that's it - the levels, places, non-Mario characters, items and everything else don't get pages. Of course, this branch of coverage is a bit muddled and its implementation around the wiki is rather inconsistent, but the "what is canon" answer still boils down to "official Mario games and other media, including crossovers": anything that's not Nintendo-approved is not canon, and anything that is outside the Mario series and part of another series, or stand-alone game, movie, or whatever, is not canon, however it can still be included on the wiki to a certain extent because it's still relevant to the Mario series and its subjects.

- Walkazo 14:31, 12 November 2012 (EST)

Oh, I misunderstood the background stuff but I think I have got my head around it now. Non-canon is speculation, not necessarily stuff that has not been officially said, but what we can work out from games. That right? Thanks Walkazo :D

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 00:25, 13 November 2012 (EST)

Argh, triple negatives are hard to follow... I wouldn't use "non-canon" and "speculation" interchangeably if I were you: there's a really subtle difference in connotation there. Essentially, "Canon" is what we're given to work with, and "speculation" is what we can (but shouldn't) do with it (along with legitimate uses like reporting the facts and pulling out unsaid but glaringly obvious thins like "babies = past"). Speculation (the act) at its wildest can lead to "non-canon" constructs (back to a "what"), like timelines, any sort of judgement call (i.e. that places one appearance over another with regards to truthfulness or importance), or totally fan-made histories and alternate character interpretations, at its most extreme. Yes, smaller pieces of speculation are still unofficial ideas, but going so far as to call everything "non-canon" blows it out of proportion, as if it was a large fabricated thing being used as basis for other stuff on the wiki, and not just isolated attempts to make sense or pick extra patterns out of canon details (although, as is helpfully already explained on our latest policy page, only the occasional, straightforward and well-documented pieces of analyses are allowed, with most speculation being removed, even if it is small). I just find that discussions sometimes get hairy when srsbsns terms like "non-canon" get thrown around, so I stick to plain old "speculation" as much as I can. - Walkazo 01:02, 13 November 2012 (EST)

Discussion from archived proposal

Thanks for your reply. I'll make a proposal for Stafy 3 when necessary, and along side that I'll propose a change to MW:Coverage soon (that is, if you weren't planning to take those steps yourself). "Bit part" may be okay, but it may sound strange to some people who don't know the film origin of the word (just saying). Also, I've spotted a minor error in MW:Coverage. In the cameos section, the link which appears as [[Thwomp#Cameos|Thwomps' appearances in ''The Legend of Zelda'' series]] in the source should be changed to [[Thwomp#Cameos and References|Thwomps' appearances in ''The Legend of Zelda'' series]]. The section name was likely to have been changed after the link was placed.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 23:40, 24 November 2012 (EST)

Thanks: the link's been fixed. Come to think of it, my original "Guest Appearance" idea might be better. Looking at the Wikipedia page, it seems to fit the bill after all, and it's not as jargony. Seeing as we already have partial coverage for Captain Rainbow and those two sports games, we don't even need to wait for a Stafy 3 page to try and update the policy - and updating the policy first would make getting a Stafy 3 page a lot easier, since the wiggle room about cameos-vs-guest-appearing will be built-in as solid policy, rather than implied based on what we've already done. I'd kinda like to take a crack at doing the MW:Coverage rewrite, but I'm going to be busy studying for the next week and a half (I have five tests in four days next week), so I can't do anything about it until next Thursday. If you wanna do something in the meantime and give me a shout next Thursday to look it over or whatever, feel free. - Walkazo 21:18, 25 November 2012 (EST)

Might be a bit early but take a look at my draft so far. I've expanded content for the suggested section title "Cameos and Guest Appearances". I tried to explain the difference between the two. The thing that I left out was (like you said in the proposal discussion) where guest appearances get partial coverage instead of full coverage, as the meaning of significance would vary from user to user. Anyway, I'll leave it to you. Good luck on your tests!

You removed my images!

I uploaded them as png for another reason (not only making them transparent).

The reason is: png thumbnails are better than jpg thumbnails. If you'd looked in the gallery you would find that they were better as thumbnails

Plus I can check the transparent again to make sure that they are viewed better on multiple colors and reupload them. What's your opinion? I'm still a new user after all and you are my master.

If you want to see my new picture download it here and see it yourself!

please answer quickly on my talk.

Hi. May you please update the BJAODN rule which disallows comments? The TPP passed.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 19:53, 9 January 2013 (EST)

Boom Boom TTP Question

Hey, I want to ask, since we do have evidence that a Boom Boom species exist including two games that show it, why not simply create the page right away and just ignore the people that believe he is only a character? Not saying to close the TPP, but if it's a fact that he is a part of a species, then I don't think it matters that people are against change in tradition (just like the Koopalings) because it's obvious that a Boom Boom species exists. I'll be honest, if the opposing side ends up winning, I'm going to be disappointed that the wiki is ignoring valid information that is clearly shown in two games and ends up making the wiki favor people that want to put info on how they believe it should be rather than putting correct information. Smasher345 10:14, 15 January 2013 (EST)

At the time, it seemed like a TPP would be fairer rather than just making the page despite the heated debate - and I certainly didn't think it'd backfire. Heck, I'm kicking myself for not making a Boom Boom species page years ago before everyone else even cared about the guy... I'm still hoping it'll pass, but if not, I'll be pretty disappointed too: it'll certainly set a worrying precedent. But again, hopefully it won't come to that. - Walkazo 18:55, 15 January 2013 (EST)
I hope so too. However, right now the opposing side is winning by one more vote and no one else seems to be voting. It also doesn't help that we're close to the deadline. I can tell that some of the opposer's reasons are speculation (Nintendo not thinking about it, multiple Booms Booms is a coincidence, etc.) simply because they want Boom Boom to stay as a character (although some did say per all). There is still time to get a few votes in, so I guess I'll wait. - Smasher345 08:32, 17 January 2013 (EST)

Japanese Super Mario Daijiten: Official?

On some pages like Tobawani their names are said to come from a website called Japanese Super Mario Daijiten. I was wondering if the website is actually an official source, since it looks fan made to me. Zakor1138 (talk) 15:40, 1 February 2013 (EST)

Yeah, it's a fan site, but they get their info directly from Japanese manuals, as explained on the talk page. Since it's really hard to get copies or scans of the Japanese manuals, even now, we have to resort to second-hand references, but as long as they're reliable (like the site in question), it's okay. - Walkazo 15:52, 1 February 2013 (EST)
Oh, awesome! I forgot that Japanese manuals are different than America ones. Zakor1138 (talk) 20:14, 1 February 2013 (EST)

The game manual only has the names for the enemies with artworks, but the ones without artworks were included in Japanese game guides such as the one seen below.

Good to know (too bad scans of game guides are hard to find too, I'd imagine). - Walkazo 16:28, 2 February 2013 (EST)

I've actually recently purchased a Wario Land 4 Japanese guide on eBay, because there are some rare character artworks in it that haven't been uploaded yet. So I'm going to scan it once it arrives. I'm wondering Walkazo, if you able to translate the short character descriptions on the page once I get it scanned? If you wanted to see it now, here is the photograph which was shown on the eBay site. The quality may be poor to read, so if you prefer to wait for the scan, that's fine.

Awesome! The photo's a bit blurry and indistinct, so I'd rather wait for the scans... - Walkazo 01:28, 3 February 2013 (EST)

Questions

Hi there, I'm a newcomer to the Mario wiki, and I have a few questions. I read the policies, and for the warnings, what does it mean to "undermine admin authority?" Second, how would someone falsely claim to be an admin, and why is it such a severe offense? -1upMSGoomba (talk)

Basically, "Undermining admin authority" is when a user acts like an admin (or multiple admins or the administrative team in general) is inferior to them when it comes to editing, policy making or how to conduct oneself in general, and then go around pointedly disobeying the admin(s), and publicly critiquing their performance to make them look bad, get them demoted, or get other users to start disobeying and questioning them too. Of course, that's the extreme: disrespectful behaviour comes in many forms, some of them very subtle. Impersonating an admin generally means someone goes around saying they're an admin and using that to get people to praise them or do what they want, either out of deference to the rank, or by threatening their opponents with blocks and whatnot. It's a severe offense because intimidation and self-aggrandizing behavior is wildly inappropriate; it also reflects poorly on the actual admins if people believe the impersonators and think we're all bullying or boastful tyrants. Actual admins earn their positions with long, hard work, and it's that experience and knowledge that earns them respect and makes them leaders in the community: a rank does not make anyone better than anyone else. - Walkazo 16:26, 2 February 2013 (EST)

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa... (M&L: B.I.S. quotes page)

Hey there, Walkazo; so I've noticed that you were possibly adding every single quote that each character has said in relation to Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. I though that the main focus was to list the more meaningful ones in relation to that character (provided that they're still accurate and consistent with the game itself)? Just trying to clear this up on my end here. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 21:03, 15 February 2013 (EST)

More info's good, isn't it? The only quotes we're not supposed to put down are generic screams and such: all my quotes are representative of how the characters think, feel or speak - and that info's dead handy. I have almost the entire BIS script at my disposal: it's well over 100 pages, and I'm only adding a fraction of that. Including all the random NPC lines would be overdoing it, as would be including all of Starlow, Bowser or Fawful's lines, but I'm not doing that: my coverage is focused on secondary characters, who are in a limited number of scenes and/or have limited amounts of dialogue. - Walkazo 21:15, 15 February 2013 (EST)
Sorry to intrude, but I've wondered about the possibility of perhaps creating an article that has the entire script of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and other articles with the same idea for other games where it could be applicable. It'd be a compromise; one article lists every line said by every character, and one showcases the lines that are actually meaningful. It's just a thought. GreenDisaster (talk) 20:54, 16 February 2013 (EST)
I've always wanted script pages. They're easy enough to do for linear platformers, but RPGs... not so much. Between the branching conversations, the fact that different party members have different lines, NPCs (especially ones that change what they say as you progress through the game), and the options to take side-quests in different orders, they're really hard to do. Even if you stick to the main plot with no extras, getting all the possible responses still requires a lot of blood, sweat and tears. - Walkazo 21:05, 16 February 2013 (EST)
Yeah, trying to find every single line said by every single character in every single situation would require an insane amount of time and effort. While it would be amazing if we could create articles that have the scripts, do you think that it's worth it? GreenDisaster (talk) 21:10, 16 February 2013 (EST)
It's worth it for platformers without much dialogue, but probably not for the RPGs. Unless we could hack the games and get the scripts that way, although I imagine that would still be a pain - and then you'd have to worry about formatting it all on the wiki, and presenting the branching/alternative dialogue in a way that makes sense... Way too much work, at least for now. - Walkazo 22:50, 16 February 2013 (EST)

Question

Hi Walkazo, I created a subpage called User:Mariotime11/drafts, where I keep drafts of articles I am working on. However, working on drafts would add to Userspace while I am actually editing main space. Is there any way I can store my drafts on the wiki so that they don't contribute to Userspace, or should I just save them to my computer? --driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 20:09, 20 February 2013 (EST)

There's no way to make drafts mainspace, but don't worry: you won't get in trouble (or whatever) for editing your user subpage a lot if it's for constructive wiki purposes. - Walkazo 21:16, 20 February 2013 (EST)

Actually, you can delete my my "drafts subpage" , because I've decided that I don't want people to see work in progress until it's finished. Also, would it be okay if I wrote a wiki policy article called MarioWiki:Sockpuppets? It explains sock puppetry in greater detail (I have noticed that quite a few users don't really get sockpuppeting and how serious it is, like this user, who continues to operate under names of two accounts.

It'll take me about a week or so to work on the article, and then I could post it to the wiki. I just need approval from a bureaucrat before I do it.

Thanks, --driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 13:33, 21 February 2013 (EST)

I deleted it for you. Thanks for offering, but I don't think a page would be necessary right now: we already have an extensive section about sockpuppeting on the Blocking Policy and discuss it on the Warning Policy - if that's not enough to drive the point home that creating more than one account is a bad idea, nothing will. - Walkazo 13:43, 21 February 2013 (EST)

Alright. I have another idea, to create a template that admins can use when they see that users share IP addresses with others. The template would also explain why the admins need to know (to make sure user is not sockpuppeting). I think this would be helpful because at first, most users don't know why the admins are asking them. I just have one question about this though, should I create it as a proposal or just ask here?

--driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 13:50, 21 February 2013 (EST)

Unnecessary. Actual messages are better because every case is slightly different, and personal appeals for explanations often go down better than cold boilerplate alerts. We generally try to explain what we're talking about and/or link to the applicable policy pages, and a lot of the "confusion" might just be folks trying to get out of punishment. Thanks for trying to help, but it's best to leave technical admin business to the admins. - Walkazo 14:00, 21 February 2013 (EST)

Okay. If I think of any more ideas, I will suggest them. But are users (non-admins) even allowed to create policy articles and/or templates?? --driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 15:25, 21 February 2013 (EST)

For the most part, policies regarding how admins go about their business (blocking, rule enforcement, etc.) should be left to the admins: being told how to do our jobs by folks uninvolved with the actual process doesn't tend to go down well. However, policies about content, organization and other such aspects of the encyclopedia half of the wiki is fair game, and users should feel free to suggest new policy pages and whatnot, generally via Proposals (such as the Writing Guideline proposals), or by contacting an admin directly to make sure it's a good idea; sometimes the admins will even work with the user on a draft of the page, to make sure it's alllll good. And of course, simply striking out and making policy pages or important templates without getting community or admin approval is not a good idea (even admins aren't supposed to strike out on our own like that). - Walkazo 15:46, 21 February 2013 (EST)

Please remove those pages

those subpages I don't need please remove 'em: User:Megadardery/common.js and User:Megadardery/monobook.css

(Help) Tutorials

Hi, I was wondering, could I make video tutorials for the wiki's help pages (like for creating signature, etc. and stuff many users need help on), so they can actually see what to do instead of trying to figure it out? I could post a sample video.

--driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 15:59, 16 March 2013 (EDT)

Thanks, but any sort of tutorial should really be coming from the staff, and that's not likely to happen. Folks have been able to figure out how to make signatures and whatnot just fine for years: it's not that complicated, and most of the time you can just copy what other users do and figure it out that way. - Walkazo 16:21, 16 March 2013 (EDT)

OK. (Sorry for the late reply, I forgot that you usually reply on your own talk page) Anyways, would an article called "List of Nintendo Land staff" be necessary? (I have it in my my drafts subpage which I decided to bring back), because Nintedno Land is a generic Nintendo game and not one specific to the Mario series. --driftmaster130 (TalkEdits) 20:30, 21 March 2013 (EDT)

It seems fine to me: the more info the merrier, and this kinda page is basically just an extension of the game article, rather than a page for the content, so it shouldn't be going beyond the usual partial coverage scope. But others might disagree, so it'd be a good idea to bring it up on the talk page using {{talk}} to ensure that folks notice the question. - Walkazo 21:45, 21 March 2013 (EDT)

My Proposal

I am requesting that my proposal concerning notice templates be removed and archived. I don't want it to continue because I think it won't go anywhere. Thank you. Mario (Santa)'s map icon from Mario Kart Tour Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 18:14, 24 March 2013 (EDT)

Okay. Gimme a sec to finish the rename stuff, and I'll get on it for ya. - Walkazo 18:16, 24 March 2013 (EDT)

Delete

Walkazo, please delete MarioProject23 Theme -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 13:17, 29 March 2013 (EDT)

Done, but you don't need to specially request for personal files to be deleted; just marking them as abandoned is enough: someone will come along and delete them sooner or later. - Walkazo 13:30, 29 March 2013 (EDT)
Well, I took a long time to be deleted, so that why I requested you to delete it. -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 18:37, 29 March 2013 (EDT)
Not really: if you've been waiting a week, sure, follow up about it, but it wasn't even a full day. Besides, once you mark a file as abandoned, it doesn't count towards your PI tally anymore, so if it hangs around for a few days, it still doesn't matter. - Walkazo 19:33, 29 March 2013 (EDT)

Problem

Hello Walkazo. Sorry to bug you with something, but someone has given me a reminder for not obeying signature rules. The problem is that I had this signature for the entire time I had a signature and no one found any problems with it. I need official confirmation if my signature needs tweaking or not. WHY NOT?

Why can't I have one more namechange? I really wanna use my forum name! >:( Red Boo Artwork of a Red Boo from Mario Party 6

Because the rule says you can only have two, no exceptions. Renames are a privilege, not a right; the point of the wiki is writing about Mario, and all the user stuff, including fussing about with one's username, is extra and should be limited. - Walkazo 23:03, 17 April 2013 (EDT)

Help

I've recently been moving failed FA and UnFA nominations to their respective failure archives, but when I do it, this is more in the unfeaturing FA failures it creates an F page rather than an * page and I have no idea what I am doing wrong, could you please tell me so in future I can it right Yoshi876 (talk)

I don't really do FA stuff: you'd have better luck asking someone who actually knows what it is that you're talking about. - Walkazo 19:11, 18 April 2013 (EDT)

Delete and change

Could you delete this picture? File:ConnorKenway.jpg and change the file name File:Ratohnhaké-ton-Connor.png to File:Ratonhnhaké:ton/Connor.png AC4-Edward.pngArmin00ConnorKenway.png 17:06, 19 April 2013 (EDT)

I deleted the picture, but frivolous image renames isn't something I endorse, and the name you want isn't valid anyway, so the second one's still "File:Ratohnhaké-ton-Connor.png". - Walkazo 21:04, 19 April 2013 (EDT)

Can it be Ratonhnhaké:ton.png or ConnorKenway.png? AC4-Edward.pngArmin00ConnorKenway.png 14:03, 21 April 2013 (EDT)

I moved it to File:ConnorKenway.png. This is definitely the best name of the three since there's no accented letters or excess punctuation. - Walkazo

Thanks, you always helped me good. :) AC4-Edward.pngArmin00ConnorKenway.png 12:21, 22 April 2013 (EDT)
