Various icons in the game feature many references to the Super Mario series. Click "Show" on the right to see the full list of references.
- The cube unlocked for the "Thief! Thief!" achievement resembles a Shy Guy.
- The cube unlocked for the "Nice shot!" achievement resembles a Rotating Block from Super Mario World.
- The cube unlocked for the "Ultimate ToE2" achievement resembles a Boo.
- The cube unlocked for the "The journey begins..." achievement resembles a sprite of a Super Mushroom from Super Mario Bros. 3.
- The cube unlocked for collecting 15 Lava Shards resembles a Thwomp.
- The cube unlocked for the "One Hop This Time!" achievement is based on the Goomba's Shoe.
- The cube unlocked for the "Diamond Legend" achievement is based on the sprite of a ? Block from Super Mario Bros..
- The ship unlocked for collecting 35 of each type of shard resembles a Chain Chomp.
- The UFO unlocked for the "I R Unstoppable!" achievement resembles a Koopa Clown Car.
- The UFO unlocked for collecting 65 Metal Shards is somewhat a nod to the cannons, even featuring a skull emblem similar to that of the ones on the Bill Blasters.
- One of the achievements is named "Jumpman", and fittingly requires the player to jump 400,000 times total. The reward is a new wave resembling that of a Bullet Bill.
- The robot unlocked for the "Fly me to the moon" achievement is based on a Mechakoopa.
- The robot unlocked for reaching Rank 9 in the Path of Fire is based on Bowser.
- The swing unlocked for collecting 35 Blood Shards is a reference to King Boo's design from the Luigi's Mansion series, albeit without his crown.
- One of the balls unlocked in the Secret Shop is based on Fuzzy.
- One of the robots unlocked in the Mechanic Shop is based on Bob-omb.
- One of the spiders unlocked in the Diamond Shop is based on the Spiny Shell.
- Added in Update 2.2 is a Secret Chest cube resembling a Propeller Box. It is confirmed by the icon's artist, Play Dash, to be a reference to such.[1]
- An unlockable Secret Chest wave resembles a Blooper.
- An unlockable secret ship resembles a Torpedo Ted.
- Two upcoming cubes in Update 2.21 are based on the Phanto and a sprite of a Skull Raft from Super Mario World.

- Various cubes in the game feature the likenesses of Shy Guy, Boo, and Thwomp, as well as an upcoming Phanto cube.
- Some cubes also feature the likenesses of items and objects seen throughout the Super Mario series, including a Rotating Block, Goomba's Shoe, a Propeller Box, and even sprites like a Super Mushroom (Super Mario Bros. 3 sprite) and a Skull Raft (Super Mario World sprite).
- The Propeller Box cube was confirmed by the icon's artist, Play Dash, to be a reference to the item itself.[2]
- Two ships in the game resemble a Chain Chomp and a Torpedo Ted respectively, with the latter coming in Update 2.21.
