Director’s Notes
Hello and welcome back to Pipe Plaza! And as this is Halloween, I've pulled out all of the stops to make this edition terrifying, unfortunately all the decorations got lost in the post so nothing's actually arrived, not even a funky banner.

Monthly Report
Written by: Paper Yoshi (talk)
Hello, readers, and welcome to the October Issue of Monthly Report! Unfortunately, as Yoshi876 told you in the previous issue, I was unable to write my section last month, but now that everything has been sorted out, I'm back to bring you all the wiki stats from October, along a comparison between the August and October stats.
(Credit goes to Stooben Rooben (talk), Super Mario Bros. (talk), and Viper26 (talk) for the table coding (I based this on Stooben's coding, which was later modified by SMB, myself, and Viper26 when each one of us wrote this section)

Tip of the Month
Spacing on the wiki is different than spacing would be on a regular word processor like MS Word. Today I'll go over a few spacing effects that you should be aware of while you're editing articles. (DISCLAIMER: This is written for most PCs. From what I know of Apple they shouldn't vary too much, but just double-check if you're on an Apple computer before writing a novel.)
- See this nice bullet list? You can create one by using an asterisk (SHIFT + 8 on most keyboards). You shouldn't usually need to make a list in a regular article, as that's what section headers are for, but here it is for reference.
- Unlike most English teachers I've ever known have said, you don't need to start a paragraph off with an indent when you're writing here. The TAB button is not really helpful here. I usually just stay away from it entirely.
- Don't start a sentence/paragraph/text block off with a space from the SPACEBAR. Just don't. You'll get
this ugly blue box
around all of the text contained in that block, which looks awful and will cause pages to display incorrectly when loaded.
- If you're trying to separate paragraphs, most often you'll need an extra line space (press ENTER on most keyboards). When you're trying to space paragraphs, press ENTER twice after the last sentence of the first paragraph to get the correct spacing for the start of the second. Using the preview button is a good way to get a feel of how the spaces look and if you need more or less.

PROPOSER | SUMMARY | OUTCOME | DEADLINE |
Wildgoosespeeder (talk) | Move TOC to various Infobox templates. A proposal to move TOC into various Infobox templates. The proposer argues that the default spot where the TOC shows up is before the first header to the left and this gets in the way if images are put in a similar spot and creates white space. |

Wildgoosespeeder (talk) | Implement Reminder template about categorizing images by game. A proposal to implement a Reminder template about categorizing images by game. The proposer argues that categorizing images helps us keep track of uploads better and allows us to save time identifying duplicates. The proposer also argues that some people forget to add an additional category when uploading images, such as those from Category:Images by game. |

Time Turner (talk) | Allow certain implied sections to be split from the "List of implied ..." articles. A proposal to allow some sections from the "List of implied..." articles to be split and get an article. The proposer argues that there are plenty of subjects that would benefit greatly from having full-fledged articles and that some implied subjects have had much more of an impact than others, so they deserve an article. |

NSY (talk) | Split all remaining courts/boards based on recurring places from their parent articles. A proposal to split courts/boards based on recurring places from their parent articles. The proposer argues that articles based on new places from sports games and Fortune Street get their own article, but those based on recurring locations are merged with the article about those recurring locations. Whereas, recurring locations that appear in popular games such as Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. get their own articles, creating an inconsistency. |

Yoshi the Space Station Manager (talk) | Pixl Queen, Waffle Kingdom, and Croacuses (rulers). A proposal to split Pixl Queen, King Croacus I, Queen Croacus II, King Croacus III and Waffle Kingdom from the list of implied characters and list of implied places respectively. The proposer argues that Pixl Queen had a major part of the story before Super Paper Mario happened, that Croacuses are former rulers of Floro Sapiens, a location that appears in Super Paper Mario and that in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, characters from the Waffle Kingdom appear in the game. |

Niiue (talk) | Stop calling Sky-Blue Spinies relatives of Buzzy Beetles. A proposal to stop calling Sky-Blue Spinies, relatives of Buzzy Beetles. The proposer argues that the only evidence of Sky-Blue Spinies being a relative of Buzzy Beetles is because of the German name. |

Niiue (talk) | Merge Mini Bob-omb with Bob-omb. A proposal to merge Mini Bob-omb, an enemy from Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, with Bob-omb. The proposer argues that Mini Bob-omb looks and acts exactly like a regular Bob-omb and that the only real evidence they're different is that they're smaller. |

Qyzxf (talk) | Stop referring to the Koopalings with their full names. A proposal to stop referring to the Koopalings with their full names (Ludwig von Koopa to Ludwig). The proposer argues that only a few games ever actually use these names and explains how the article of Princess Peach is called Princess Peach instead of Princess Peach Toadstool, because the surname is not used anymore. |

Wildgoosespeeder (talk) | Merge List of Sammer Guys with Duel of 100. A proposal to merge the list of Sammer Guys with Duel of 100. The proposer argues that the list is actually the Duel of 100 and having two separate articles may be in violation of MarioWiki:Once and only once. |

Tails777 (talk) | Either rename Duke, Lulu and Rockman to The Dino Riders or split the three characters into separate articles. A proposal to decide if the article Duke, Lulu and Rockman should be renamed to The Dino Riders or if each character should have an article. The proposer argues that the article name could be better. The proposer also argues that renaming the article is better, because not enough is known about them individually and the fact that they are always together means they aren't worth having separate articles. |

LudwigVon (talk) | Move Fred (boss) to Furious Fred de Fillet. A proposal to rename the article "Fred (boss)" to Furious Fred de Fillet. The proposer argues that we should not take into consideration how Kamek names the bosses, (which was the reason why it was moved to Fred (boss) ), because sometimes, instead of name them by their full names, he nicknamed some bosses. |

Lord Bowser (talk) | Merge Shy Guy (Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!) with Shy Guy (toy). A proposal to merge Shy Guy (Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!) with Shy Guy (toy). The proposer argues that besides the spear that those Shy Guys carry in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!, there isn't any real difference between these Shy Guys and the rest of the Shy Guy toys in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. |

A51_Trooper (talk) | Split Banana Coin from Banana Bunch Coin. A proposal to oppose the split of Banana Coin and Banana Bunch Coin. The proposer argues that the only difference between a Banana Bunch Coin and a Banana Coin is that the former has a picture of a banana bunch on it, the other has a single banana. The proposer also argues that both coins shares the same purpose, so they should not be split. |

A proposal to decide if we should create categories others than Category:Rogueport Denizens and Category:Glitzville Denizens for others areas of RPG games or if we should delete the two existing categories. The proposer argues that it seems rather inconsistent for these two areas, densely populated as they are, to be the only ones to group an area's characters together. |

RickTommy (talk) | Add lists of implied species from franchises other than Pokémon. A proposal to decide if we should remove the "List of implied Pokémon" section or if we should add relevant sections for every other franchise. Wildgoosespeeder (talk) | Coin Ring - Split Super Mario 64 (and DS) with Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World. A proposal to either move Super Mario 64 content into Water Ring or keep Coin Ring for Super Mario 64 but move Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World content to a different page. The proposer argues that the Super Mario 64 content should be moved to Water Ring because it comes from a Manta and the jet stream underwater. The proposer also argues that the coin rings in Super Mario 64 operate very differently than the coin rings in Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World, where in those two games, the Coin Ring gives the player five coinss. |

According to the translation, Arewo Shitain-hakase confirmed himself to be Mad Scienstein. |

Projects Seeking Contributors
G'day 'shroomers, YoshiKong here. I would like to welcome you to a spoooky new edition of Pipe Plaza's Projects Seeking Contributors, a monthly section which summarises the latest projects, collaborations and important discussions which concern the MarioWiki. All readers, regardless of experience or position within our community, are invited to share their opinions and valuable input on the following projects and discussions.
This section of Pipe Plaza is designed to make it easier for you to quickly identify different types of available projects. All projects are organised under three different headers, as presented below. Each header contains a neat table which provides the name of the topic concerned, with a brief summary of what that topic is about and what you can do to help. The sections are further split into projects being discussed on the wiki or the community's forum respectively.
Projects Seeking Contributors
The following are a selection of projects or special requests which are taking place on wiki talk pages. Please see here for a complete list.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
Help us upload and list any "Game Over" screenshots which are missing from the article. | |
Players of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are asked to double check how a described glitch is performed. Ideally it should also be added to the article's list. | |
A screenshot showing the use of SPD-Up in the game Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story has been requested. | |
It has been found that certain in-game rules differs between regions for Mario Party: Island Tour minigames. PAL-region players have been asked to place their region's version of the minigame rules. | |
Help us format the reception section of Paper Mario: Sticker Star with a proper table, as per MarioWiki:Reception and sales. | |
Help clarify the relationship between "Softnica" and "Pax Softnica". It has been requested that a user who is fluent in Japanese should provide a translation of several given webpages, which may contain information of assistance. | |
Help us find the correct Australian release date of Super Smash Bros. | |
Help source better quality versions of several given images. Also, it has been suggested that Tetris DS be merged with the "List of references in video games" article. | |
Discuss the validity and correct usage of the title "Big Scorper", in regards to conflicting sources. | |
It has been suggested that TOSE Software Co. may have developed Yoshi's Safari. Any users who can confirm this with a reliable source have been invited to respond to this discussion. |
The following have been taken from the Wiki Collaborations forum board.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
This month, a translation has been requested for some "KC Deluxe" Japanese manga content. | |
Discuss how the Japanese publishing company "CoroCoro Comics" may be covered by the wiki, as well as a recently found two volume Donkey Kong Country TV series manga. | |
The Japanese Mario Encyclopedia may confirm some official names for those which are currently conjectural. Any users who own the book are asked to share the relevant pages, and translations where official names could potentially be found. | |
Individual world missions, such as those seen in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy, should be split into separate articles as per policy. Check out which missions still require an article, and help fulfill this goal. |
Discussions Seeking Input
The following are a selection of discussions on the wiki which are in need of input from users. Please see here for a complete list.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
Discuss whether Clam and Clampy should share a single article. | |
Discuss whether the Ice Block appearance from Super Mario Bros. 3 should be merged with Grab Block, due to their identical in-game usage. | |
Help decide whether Heronicus's implied Flopside version should receive its own entry on the "List of implied characters", or keep the information merged on his main article. | |
Help source the original article title "Power Throw", which has since been moved to "Mega Toss" as seen in a more recent game appearance. | |
Please help us clarify when the "mist" effect is triggered in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, so this information may be added to the article. | |
Provide input on the necessity of this category, and the usage of other subsystem categories. | |

It has been suggested that StreetPass Mii Plaza should be merged with List of references in video games and Nintendo 3DS. | |
Provide input on whether Super Mario Galaxy 2 should be referred to as a "sequel" by definition. | |

Discuss how information about a secret "Challenge Mode" should covered as part of the game Wario's Woods. |
The following have been taken from the Wiki Collaborations forum board.
Topic | Description |
---|---|
Discuss which individual subjects may be elibible for an individual article, rather than exclusively remaining on the "list of implied" pages. | |
A unique artwork of Yoshi has been discovered, although the physical source where the artwork comes from is currently unknown. Any users who may know where the artwork came from have been asked to post their input. |
Pinned Projects
These are long-running projects, areas of discussion or collaborations which are continuously being worked on towards achievement. They will feature in this section every month.
Subject | Description |
---|---|
The "Holy Grails" is a list of elusive article subjects, where information is extremely difficult to find. Please take a look at the list, and let us know if you are able to provide us with information on any of these subjects. | |
Check out this month's edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight. It brings attention to a small group of articles which need improvement. Each of the articles are normally taken from a different improvement category, such as rewriting an article or adding more images. So there is always something for everyone's interests and abilities. | |
Stubs are articles or sections which are currently too short due to missing information. We invite you to take a look at the category, and contribute content to any subjects that you may be familiar with. | |
Be sure to check the Proposals page (as well as any current talk page proposals) where you can vote for, and give your opinions on proposed changes to the wiki. Such as new policies and features, splits and merges of articles, and deletions. |
And that concludes a new edition of Projects Seeking Contributors. I hoped you enjoyed viewing the section. I want to know what you think of the design and arrangement in how projects are presented, so therefore I invite all readers to leave me feedback. You can send me a personal message, or simply fill out this form (external website). My goal is to continuously improve the section's presentation.
Thank you! And have a happy Halloween!

Analysis
- Move to mobile: Even though someone screwed up the title of this poll so it has the MP:SR poll question in the collapsible box, let's ignore that. Apparently the minorjority (most people, but still less than 50% - like how Bill Clinton got into office) agrees that Super Mario Run is a good idea and that it will further Nintendo without being cautious about it. And look, they're releasing it on Android! Now you have one happy fan right here. Even though I don't wanna wait, it might be a reasonable investment. Anyway, it seems like most people think this is a step in the right direction – cautiously optimistic or not. I still think they should put it on Android though.
- Franchise most in need of improvement: When I first submitted this poll, I wasn't expecting so many people to say that Mario & Sonic needed more improvement, but I haven't played that one there that they released last winter yet, so uh...yeah. Anehweh, I did actually kinda predict that the winner would be Paper Mario. Sticker Star was so panned that I could practically see the future that PM would win by a huge margin, but then people decided that Mario Party was failing. I personally disagree, but somehow people actually hated MP9. MP8 was worse. Welp, apparently I'm in the minority about that. I mean, it's not like it's ever going to matter much.
- Demographic: When I saw that only 6.61% of the voters didn't say how old they were, I almost fainted. If you could see the Poll Committee Discussion board on the forum, you could see the nomination thread where I said something like “I think too many people will say they prefer not to say.” So much for that theory. Anyway, at 14, apparently I'm part of the second most common age group 'round these parts. Only the drivers, 17-year-olds, and people who are old enough to drink (all these stats coming from America because that's where I'm from) beat out the rising teens, people who are as old as me, and people who are 15 years old. I was also pretty surprised to find that 44 kiddos – or more likely, their parents – voted for the <9 option, but it's good to know that there's still people who aren't too overprotective to let their kids tell us how old they are. I know what it's like to have one o' them.
- Stuff for the NX: Well apparently people hated the Wii U's hardware, software, and controller, or else they wouldn't have voted that as what they want. Hooray for coming to logical conclusions, am I right? No? Well, still, that's what the dudes want, and it may or may not be what the dudes get. Oh yeah, and you can't forget that 25.81% of said dudes want something innovative. Then there's the 103 dudes who aren't interested in the NX, so uh, I guess those 103 dudes are leaving Nintendo. Or at least the NX. I know I'm too busy watching game shows to really keep up with Nintendo news, so we'll see. I would have to vote for “bring back Camera Shy in MP11” because that minigame was the best Nintendo has ever offered, so if they do that, then my local GameStop can shut up and take my money because I'd buy anything that had that game in it. Like, really, you should play that game.
The End
If you enjoyed this section, please call 1-800-ROY-KOOPA to donate to the fund of helping me write better. Just kidding, I don't actually need your money; my real life job pays well enough. Next month, I won't be here. Isn't that sad? What's not sad is that you will be hearing from The Pyro Guy (talk), a good friend of mine who comes from the land of unneeded U's, Monty Python, and E.L.O. Y'know, those guys who made Mr. Blue Sky. Zee you nezz dime!

Hello, readers! I'm your Spotlight manager and Pipe Plaza Director, Yoshi876. Welcome to Retro Feature, a section in which I delve deep into the archives to bring you the best blasts from the past. This time I bring you a section from someone who quite possibly has the longest username on the wiki: DyegoHalliwell IceMario12.
DyegoHalliwell IceMario12 joined the wiki on 11 June 2010, and joined The 'Shroom In Issue XLII, which was released on 12 September, 2010. When he joined he only wrote Fake Characters alongside MrConcreteDonkey, and he would write this section until he departed from The 'Shroom in Issue XLIX, which was released on 16 April 2011. In his final two months he also contributed two Fake Music sections alongside his Fake Characters.
Anyway, you're not here to hear about the history of DyegoHalliwell IceMario12, so instead I'll just have you enjoy one of his Fake Characters sections, more specifically the one from Issue XLV.
Fake Charactersby DyegoHalliwell IceMario12 (talk) Hola America, Asia, Africa, Oceania y otros que leen The Shroom. Hyper-Rolling Mecha KoopaThis brand new enemy is the special, stupid, footless, Rolling MechaKoopa. He is known for being addict to the potions, and this weakness, made him an Hyper-Rolling Mecha Koopa. This new class of Mecha Koopa was made for a top secret game: Super Mario Galaxy 3. The only advantage of this enemy, is that, when he charges his attack, he makes you invincible. His most powerful ability is Drivingyoucrazy, which means you can't defeat him at least you want to make a deal with Bowser and die in the try (?). If this Mecha Koopa gives you hell when rolling, just sing about it and stop bothering Luigi. Olite ParooctembaMade for Paper Mario: The 3D Adventure, is the Olite Parooctemba, but with some fails, he has no wings, no feet, and no other power than Headbonk. This new Goomba was made by a Shadow Toad, who wants revenge for being confused with Black Toad. But he left his new Goomba half-made cause Black Toad killed himself. Olite Parooctemba can be found in Brainless Town, and can be defeated by throwing water at him, or telling him "a simple Octoomba". He can shapeshift to any being without wings or foots, meaning, himself with different colors, and different voices. Beware of him when becoming a 2.5-D Goomba, or he will be Supervincible. A final message for readers, hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year See you all on January's Issue. by MrConcreteDonkey (talk) Yoshi the Red Nosed ReindeerYoshi the Red Nosed Reindeer is the son of a Yoshi and Tap-Tap the Red Nosed, which ovbiously explains while that Yoshi is still in extreme agony. Unlike regular Yoshis, this special Yoshi is able to fly. He also has antlers, apparently due to an extreme accident, where God (or whoever your god is if it isn't God) put them there. I have been asked to put it across that this was most certainly not a stupid joke and the Yoshi is a half Yoshi, quarter Tap-Tap, and half reindeer and that was also not mathematically inaccurate. If you don't want to see the image, he's a Green Yoshi with a glowing red nose and antlers. However, this Yoshi's significance is yet to come. One day, Santa Claus caught swine flu and couldn't deliver any Christmas presents. So everyone got sad and it caused a huge depression, until this Yoshi was caught on someone's mobile phone camera falling onto a tree and getting stuck by his antlers in the tree. It soon spread to the Internet, and everyone laughed and forgot that they were sad. And so, every Christmas, some guy remembers this Yoshi. He also helped pull Santa's sleigh when all his reindeer got swine flu, but that doesn't matter much. Weirdo the Mole and his Cheap EffectsNobody in the Mushroom Kingdom knows exactly who this guy is. Even I don't, and I'm writing about him. He is apparently a Monty Mole. He speaks like Professor E. Gadd, so he is very creepy. One day he just appeared and acted like him and Mario knew each other. He is made of metal. Apparently people start listening to him because his eyes tell them to. On his stomach, he has a face. The face has been seen opening its mouth and blinking, but nobody has heard its voice... It looks just like the face on the Koopa Clown Car and ovbiously has been cropped very badly from that. He also has cheap emboss and invert effects that could have been from Paint. Currently, he lives in the moat in Peach's Castle's grounds. One day, he got a Metal Cap, but, unsure what to do with it, he ate it. He then went for one of his regular swimming trips in the Cavern of the Metal Cap, but he turned metal permanently. Then, a huge wave knocked him down the waterfall. In conclusion, this guy is really creepy. Avoid him at all costs if you value your sanity.
