Necessity

There's a lot of crossover between this category and Category:Mayors, as in only three articles (Mikhail S. Gorbachev, Helmut Kohl, and Mr. President) are excluded from the mayor category. It's not like those three would be completely orphaned if this category is removed; would it be all that harmful to ditch the politicians and just roll with the mayors? Hello, I'm Time Turner.

"Politician" is a pretty broad category. First, let's define what a politician is in the Mario scope of things. Because technically, you could put rulers and bureaucratic members there as well. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:26, 16 January 2016 (EST)

If we take "politician" at face value (as in, "someone professionally involved in politics, i.e. a government or a governing body"), most of Category:Royalty would probably be included as well - but at the same time, all of the kings and princesses are already doing fine in that category. If there's some sort of Mushroom Kingdom senate that I'm not aware of, they could be included, but otherwise, I still think there's too much crossover to really warrant this category.
