The 'Shroom:Issue 103/Pipe Plaza
Director’s Notes
Hello 'Shroom readers! This is Issue 103, which is filled with to the brim with Halloween goodies. Now, I hear you ask "How can Pipe Plaza be scary?" Of course we can't do anything themed really, but what we can do is put adjectives in front of everything.
So yes, welcome to Pipe Plaza, the home of spooky stats, terrifying tables and creepy colours.
Last month we saw the triumphant debut of Banjo 'N' Gutseh's Late-Night Actually Legit Interviews, sadly, due to some real life issues it won't be present in this issue. I'm sure you all join me in wishing things are swiftly sorted out for Banjo. This month we also see the triumphant return of New Articles, with Viper26 (our current Monthly Report writer) now writing it.

Monthly Report
Happy Fall/Spring, readers, welcome to Zombie Island today's issue of the Monthly Report!! I have only one thing to say for today's report, and that's happy birthday to me! My birthday is on the 21st of this month, so that'll be on the Birthday Wishes section later on. If not, then you already have it here. :) Now, slay the zombies, suck the ghosts with your Poltergust, and enjoy the issue!!
Credit goes to Stooben Rooben (talk), Super Mario Bros. (talk), and Paper Yoshi (talk) for the table coding (I based this on Stooben's coding, which was later modified by SMB, and Paper Yoshi when they wrote this section.).

New Articles
Alright 'Shroom readers, I'm in charge of New Articles now. This section will be similar to my Monthly Report section, which I'm still obviously doing. So get used to my tables. The articles that I'll feature come from when the last 'Shroom issue came out to when I send this section in. Enjoy the article!
Tip of the Month
When starting an editing project, consider how big it's going to be. Are you filling in a lot of information on a game? Perhaps you've just picked up a brand new game and are the first one to be filling in information for it. Or you're creating a lot of pages of information at once that all link back to a single page, and it might take you a few weeks to finish it. When you're working on a project as big as this, use the {{construction}}
template on your pages. This will let readers know that this is a project that's currently being worked on, and that it might look a little sloppy for now.
Poll Committee Discussion
Written by: Palkia47 (talk) and the Poll Committee
Hello all! :') Welcome to a brand new Pipe Plaza section, dedicated to an important part of our community! I am referring to the Poll Committee, who are a group of users put together to create the polls seen on the Main Page. This new section, each month, will be spent giving updates on our committee, in terms of members, new polls/archived polls, and updates on our system. We are responsible for creating the polls, releasing them to the public on the main page, and archiving each poll once their lifespan runs out. Our group is made up of the following seven people – one being the poll chairman, and another being the vice chairman:
User | Position | Forum Profile |
---|---|---|
Palkia47 (talk) | Poll Committee Chairman | Palkia47 (Chloe Beale) |
Andymii (talk) | Poll Committee Vice-Chairman | Andymii |
Baby Luigi (talk) | Poll Committee Member | Baby Luigi |
Lumastar (talk) | Poll Committee Member | Lumastar |
Viper26 (talk) | Poll Committee Member | Viper26 |
Nysic (talk) | Poll Committee Member | Nysic (Marie) |
MrConcreteDonkey (talk) | Poll Committee Member | MrConcreteDonkey (Greg Universe) |
We at the Poll Committee, already in our first few months, have adopted a brand new poll system and have officially ushered it in with our polls! How the committee used to work prior to my election was that a week was spent on nominating polls, and then the next week was spent voting on which of those polls to use. Whichever poll received the highest number of votes from the rest of the committee was then selected to be used as the poll on the main page.
Instead of using this format, an idea spawned by our very own Viper26 was pushed into action by our vice-chairman, Andymii: that polls come out weekly instead of biweekly. Between all of us collaborating, we have reached new guidelines and a new, faster polling system that includes the following:
- One poll will be released to the main page every week. A new poll will be released on Sunday at 12PM EST (unless Andy and I will not be available for release, then it will come out the night before or a few hours afterwards). We originally had set for Monday at 12PM EST, but we changed it to Sunday as a result of school.
- In order to be able to roll out so many polls per week, we have implemented a queue system – this means, any number of adequate polls can be nominated at any time, and can be voted on at any time by the poll committee. The queue can ONLY hold 20 polls at a time.
- Once a new poll is put up, the old poll will be archived and immediately placed at the bottom of our poll committee page.
We would also like to stress the fact that you, yes, you, the user, can submit polls to us! Your polls will go through the same path that the rest of our polls do – be put up for nomination, we will determine if it is usable or we will suggest possible fixes that could be made to the poll, and then if everything goes smoothly, we will vote on the poll to be added on the queue system! The user who submitted the poll will receive full credit for their creation. If you are interested in submitting a poll, please send a PM to either Andy or I on the forums! You can send me a PM on the forums through this link, OR you can send Andy a PM on the forums through this link!
As I previously mentioned at the beginning of this section, we will also be archiving the polls that have reached the end of their week. Along with placing those polls on the Polls page, we will also be showing those archived polls/results here in this section! The archived polls will mark the end of this section, so… to end this, I hope you all look forward to these monthly Poll Committee sections! :’D
So, how about we get started on those archives?!
Nintendo games on phones (Andymii (talk), August 10, 2015)
Do you think it would be wise for Nintendo to publish games for mobile phones? |
---|
Of course! A Mario game on my phone would be a dream-come-true, not to mention a brilliant marketing strategy! 17.05% (500 votes) |
Sure, but not too many; I still want a majority of Nintendo's games to stay on their own consoles. 44.82% (1,314 votes) |
Nah, the 3DS and Wii U are perfectly good hardware. 15.21% (446 votes) |
No way! That would completely ruin Nintendo's reputation. 9.82% (288 votes) |
I don't care. Nintendo games are fun everywhere! 13.1% (384 votes) |
Total Votes: 2,932 |
Downloadable Content in Super Smash Bros. 4 (Palkia47 (talk), August 17, 2015)
With the recent additions of Lucas, Roy, and Ryu, among many stages, songs, modes, and options, how do you feel about the DLC in Smash 4? |
---|
I love it! I've picked up all the DLC so far and eagerly wait for every batch to be released. 41.99% (928 votes) |
I enjoy it, but I'm not a die-hard fan of the DLC. I'll buy what appeals to me. 43.26% (956 votes) |
It's meh; I don't mind it, but I don’t really care for it. I'm much more focused on what’s already in the original game! 7.69% (170 votes) |
It's terrible! Having to pay for DLC is annoying, and I think Smash Bros. could do without all the added features. 7.06% (156 votes) |
Total Votes: 2,210 |
Super Mario Maker (Nysic (talk), August 24, 2015)
How do you feel about Nintendo's attempt to make an official Mario level editor, Super Mario Maker? |
---|
I think they did an awesome job with it! This is a must have. 81.66% (2,053 votes) |
It seems like a good game, but I'm not that interested in the concept of level editors. 12.37% (311 votes) |
It's a good idea, but the way the game is designed turns me off. 2.27% (57 votes) |
It's good, but I'd rather not buy it when there are free, unofficial level editors such as Super Mario Bros. X. 2.9% (73 votes) |
I think that both the concept and the way it was designed are bad. 0.8% (20 votes) |
Total Votes: 2,514 |
Price of Mario Kart/Smash Bros. DLC (MrConcreteDonkey (talk), August 31, 2015)
What is your opinion on paid downloadable content pricing for Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U? |
---|
I think the prices are fine for both. 30.79% (693 votes) |
I don't buy everything that's released, but I still think the pricing is mostly fair. 18.44% (415 votes) |
Mario Kart DLC is overpriced, but Smash Bros. is fine. 3.29% (74 votes) |
Smash Bros. DLC is overpriced, but Mario Kart is fine. 18.26% (411 votes) |
The price should be cheaper for both. 7.64% (172 votes) |
No, DLC for both should be free. 14.93% (336 votes) |
I don't care. 6.66% (150 votes) |
Total Votes: 2,251 |
Virtual Boy Games on the 3DS Virtual Console (Andymii (talk), September 6, 2015)
Do you think Nintendo should rerelease Virtual Boy games on the 3DS Virtual Console program? |
---|
Of course! The 3DS would be a perfect way to experience these rare games with the original visual effects. 31.15% (672 votes) |
Yes, but they should rerelease it on the Wii U Virtual Console as well. 11.78% (254 votes) |
Sure, but only if they have a mode to turn off the uncomfortable red-and-black coloring! 34.45% (743 votes) |
The Virtual Boy was such a flop that it would be bad for Nintendo to bring it back in such a way. 12.98% (280 votes) |
No way! Virtual Boy games are all bad anyway. 9.64% (208 votes) |
Total Votes: 2,157 |

I generally don't preorder Mario games, but I do preorder various other games. 12.77% (226 votes) |

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker DLC (Viper26 (talk), September 27, 2015)
Do you think Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker should have a DLC pack with more courses? |
---|
Absolutely! This game should have more courses to be more enjoyable. 33.99% (673 votes) |

What are your thoughts on Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam? |
---|
It's a really cool concept and I'm sure it'll turn out great! 59.24% (1228 votes) |
I would've much preferred a standalone Mario & Luigi/Paper Mario title, but it looks alright. 24.22% (502 votes) |
I'm not impressed, but we don't know much about it yet, to be fair. 8.88% (184 votes) |

Thread of the Month
September's Thread of the Month is Nabber's Undertale (plz click this topic <3), made about a recent game, created by Toby Fox, which has gained a large amount of popularity on the forum. As someone who has played part of the demo, I can personally say this: "its good". And surely no positive review can be worth half as much as The 'Shroom's Forum Update Thread of the Month Award. Right?
Speaking of positive reviews, a close runner-up was SiFi's Scottish Mario: Origin, providing insight on one of the deepest and most important characters in the entirety of the Mario series. Although only the prologue and first chapter have been released, Scottish Mario: Origin has been entertaining so far and it'll be interesting to see where it goes next.
Quotes
"Elections are forbidden." - Porplemontage on democracy.
"best dad" - MST3K's description of Bowser.
"almost forgot to shitpost today" - Nysic.
"my favorite thing that's ever been said on the topic of fonts is "Kitschy, cheap and vile, Papyrus has no place in your designs.", because it's hilarious to me to imagine someone getting this worked up about fonts, particularly when their argument boils down to "it's objectively bad because i personally find it aesthetically displeasing"" - 2257.
"Det är Tors dag idag. Därmed måste vi hylla Tor, en av de bättre asagudarna. Om vi inte gör det så kommer han att inkludera åskmolnet från Funky Motorcykel Wii i alla framtida Mario Kart spel." - Pi.
Mafia
Nothing happened last month in terms of Mafia. Like, literally nothing. There's not even any current games. The forum is dead. And you killed it.
Thanks for reading.

Hello, readers! I'm your Spotlight manager and Pipe Plaza Director, Yoshi876. Welcome to Retro Feature, a section in which I delve deep into the archives to bring you the best blasts from the past. This time I bring you a section from Dark Lakitu 789 (talk)!
Dark Lakitu 789 joined the MarioWiki on 26th April 2007 and made his 'Shroom debut during Issue XIX (Sep. 2008), writing Fangamers Report, a section that he would go on to write a further six times. This would be the only section that he would write and he would write it until he left The 'Shroom in Issue XXV (Apr. 2009). Over the course of his writing, Dark Lakitu 789 gave reviews on Mario Forever, Super Mario: Blue Twilight DX, Super Mario Flash, Super Mario World Flash, Super Mario Bros. Revenge of Bowser, a demo of a game similar to Paper Mario and Paper Mario World.
However, you’re not here to learn about the history of Dark Lakitu 789, you’re here to a view a classic section from issues gone by, so without further ado here is Dark Lakitu 789's Fangamers Report from Issue XIX.
Mario Forever has all the basic enemies, and items. It also has a lot of features such as one mini game A few secret levels and stuff like that. The game has worlds called "Hardcore Worlds"The is about four Hard core worlds. There is another world that the world map call "The lost map. It's the game,s equivalent of the The Lost Levels. The is a secret level called Goomba party, sound easy? WRONG! Goomba's are everywhere! Goombas fall out out of the sky, making it hard to jump with out getting hit. The last level I'll want to talk about is Funny Tanks. The level is just like world 8 of SMB3 but harder. The game has two new power ups. One of theme is a beet. The beet lets Mario throw beets. The other other one is a green item (forgot what's it's call). Any way it makes Mario run faster. The game has a few "new enemies".The enemies are just upgrade of the Venus Fire Trap and Cheep-cheep. If you download the game you'll get anther program I believe it's called Mario fixer.Mario fixer is a level editor. It will give you all the enemies and items. The is problems with Mario fixer. One is you can't make long levels. Also if you get a game over in your level you'll have to restart Mario fixer. Mario forever is a good game 7/10(from 1 to 10). That's all I have to say. Just don't get this game confuse with the SMB1 hack. Bye. |
