Apple App Store and Google Play Icons[edit]

{{format|mobiledl=1}}
Should icons and links to the store pages be made available for these particular digital stores for iOS and Android instead of using the generic Digital download icon for use in templates.? Great for {{game infobox}} that are used for Super Mario Run, Dr. Mario World, and Mario Kart Tour. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:45, October 1, 2019 (EDT)

Request to change FDS media description from Floppy disk to Disk Card[edit]

The official name for the floppy disks for the Family Computer Disk System is Disk Card. The MarioWiki page for the Disk System even says this but despite that it's described as a generic term. Every other media type is given its official name so why not this one? --Bro3256 (talk) 20:49, May 31, 2024 (EDT)

I think the template can be easily edited to change said instance. Super Mario RPG (talk) 20:55, May 31, 2024 (EDT)

Computer format parameters[edit]

Question.svg This talk page or section has a conflict or question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

I have a few gripes with the current computer format parameters.

{{format|dos=1|smfloppy=1|lgfloppy=1}}

Home computer system:
Optical disc icon for use in templates. Optical disc
PC:
A 3.5" floppy disk, specifically that of Super Mario Bros. Print World 3.5" floppy disk
A 5.25" floppy disk, specifically that of Super Mario Bros. Print World 5.25" floppy disk

Firstly, why are "Home computer system" and "PC" separated? It needlessly splits the optical disc and floppy disk formats into two groups even though the two formats are for the same platform. If the rationale is "there are home computer systems that are not typically classified as PC", it doesn't work because the Macintosh release of Mario is Missing! is on floppy disks, a format classified under "PC". I think we should merge the two groups into "Home computer system".

Speaking of floppy disks, do we really need to distinguish between "3.5″ floppy disk" and "5.25″ floppy disk"? This seems too specific to me, especially considering that the "Optical disc" parameter has a very broad name rather than a more specific name such as "CD-ROM". It's also a pain when you know that a specific PC game is on floppies but you don't know which size of floppy or whether there exist versions for both sizes. A singular "Floppy disk" parameter would be more convenient.

And lastly, why does the parameter "Optical disc" has the code dos? Some MS-DOS games such as Super Mario Bros. Print World were released only on floppy disks, and other games such as Mario's FUNdamentals were released on CD-ROM for Windows and Mac. Jdtendo(T|C) 06:23, July 30, 2024 (EDT)

add "Famicom (FC)" to format list?[edit]

This template lists all the wide variety of different formats that something was released on. I'd consider Famicom cartridges to be a different format to NES cartridges, primarily due to the difference between Famicom 60-pin and NES 72-pin. The two cartridge formats are incompatible with each other as a result outside of unofficial pin adapters which Nintendo never endorsed the use of. So would it be worth adding Famicom to this template due to the difference? --Bro3256 (talk) 02:19, November 23, 2024 (EST)
