Linking to other pages[edit]

Only link to another page once, the first time it appears in the article. DO NOT link to one page every time the word appears in an article. --Steve (talk) 21:11, 23 Nov 2005 (EST)

Fix'D. I'll keep watch to make sure people don't do this. --Chris (talk) 8:44, 23 Nov 2005 (PST)

Page Length[edit]

Due to the huge length of this page, I propose that we take certain sections, such as the Bestiary, and make it an entirely new section, and place a link to that section where the information currently is. --Master Gamer 22:12, 1 June 2006 (EDT)

That's fine. Go to it! =) --Son of Suns 00:12, 2 June 2006 (EDT)
Yeah, kind of like I've done with the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door's sections. Please check out how I've some of the section moves in the PM:TTYD article so we can keep the same format. --DarkInsaniy (talk)
Do we really need to have the Bosses section? Pretty much all of the information there is already listed in the Bestiary, and it would save a lot of space. --Master Gamer 23:01, 4 June 2006 (EDT)

Yoshi Series[edit]

Should we put information that the game had many references to the Yoshi series? Like Raphael the Raven was in it, and many of the enemies in Lavalava Island resemble the enemies in the Yoshi Series. Also Poochy and Nep-Enut were going to appear in the game. Paper Jorge

That would be acceptable. -- Son of Suns
Also note Big Lantern Ghost. Paper Jorge

3D[edit]

Do you think we should keep the 3D section I added. I like it but I'm new to the site. -Pal101

Virtual Console yet?[edit]

Yeah yeah, we know that Paper Mario's been confirmed for the Virtual Console. But is it actually out yet? VC's article said it was.

I didn't see it when I looked this morning. Wa Yoshihead.png TC@Y 20:33, 25 June 2007 (EDT)
Europe and Japan arleady have it on VC. America doesn't. Should add that. SuperLuigi821

Useless Section[edit]

The similarities with its predecessor its simply useless, its like making one in mario kart wii that says: Its curious that in all Mario Kart games to date, the characters drive karts.

So i say this section should be erased, because they are facts that anyone can notice and we dont need 10 parragraphs explaining why Luigi led both parades or why Bowser cant be reached in the sky TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom

Are you referring to the entire section, or just those two pieces of information? -SolarBlaze

Under construction?[edit]

Why has the Artwork section got the construction template? what is it missing? TucayoSig.png SHROOM

That's probably because all of the official artwork for the game hasn't been added yet.

The Bloopers are optional bosses?[edit]

This page (and several others) list the three big Bloopers as optional bosses. I don't think you can say that. As far as I know you can only reach the Snow City by going through the Tunnels and finding the Super Boots there. I played Paper Mario last week and you must fight the Super Blooper to proceed to the Penguin Village which wouldn't make him an optional boss. I think we should change it. Neptun 18:36, 30 January 2011 (EST)

I trust you, and I think you should do it since you played it recently. I think I remember that too. A Link to the Present 13:51, 9 April 2011 (EDT)

Only the first Blooper is required. If Mario does not go to anywhere he fights a Blooper except for where he needs to use Sushie to cross the lake, he will fight the first Blooper.

So Blooper (just Blooper) needs to be removed from Optional Bosses. Magic Koopa Guy (talk) 11:36, 2 March 2013 (EST)

Actually, only Super Blooper is required. --Super Mario Man (talk)

After some research it seems the bloopers are encountered in a set order, irrespective of which trigger the player hits first. This means that at least the first Blooper will be required when trying to access Shiver City. The rest can be skipped, but usually aren't in normal Gameplay. All of them can be skipped with glitches but that really does not count. --LeoGrun (talk) 18:04, December 28, 2021 (EST)

Wrong Link[edit]

On Paper Mario's article, if you view mario's partners and click on kooper's fire shell attack, it will lead you to a page about the fire shell armor on super mario rpg, instead of the actual attack. I can't fix this because i can't remember how to put links when you edit an article but i would apreciate it if someone fixed this and told me how to put links when you edit an article.

Thanks, Anonymous. I fixed it. Also put a double [ on one side and a double ] on the other. Putting a | in the link will make what is to the right of it appear in the article, and to the left of it what article it links to. EX: [Mario] or [Fire Shell (move)|Fire Shell]. Remember to use two brackets instead of one. Also, sign comments with four ~s. A Link to the Present 13:49, 9 April 2011 (EDT)

Widescreen?[edit]

Some of these screenshots appear widescreen. I thought the Nintendo 64 was fullscreen? maybe? somebody help? A Link to the Present 13:51, 9 April 2011 (EDT)

Table mix-up[edit]

Can someone fix the boss list table and Super Smash Bros. Melee trophy tables? They're kind of mixed up, but I can't figure out how to fix them. Thanks, Warioad (talk) 11:44, 14 February 2015 (EST)

Items[edit]

This article needs to have an items list. I looked through the whole article and couldn't find anything about items. Maybe I could take the whole day tomorrow to work on that? Special Treasure Chest[edit]

Merluvlee introduces herself to Mario in Paper Mario
The treasure chest in question to the left.

I remember some dialog that Peach says to Twink about what the treasure chest is called and its origin story when you control Peach during her segments of the game. What is the exact name of the treasure chest and do we have an article for that, similarly to the Black Chest of Paper Mario 2? I'm having a hard time finding it. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:29, 15 April 2016 (EDT)

I tried to locate an article about this treasure chest when I wrote that section, but I couldn't find one. Once the page is in a somewhat more presentable shape overall and it hasn't been done already, an appropriate article can be created and linked proper in the section you tagged. Mind you, I am still in the middle of overhauling this page, as I have been for the last few days. The shop section is still under construction, as are other parts of the article.- Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 17:39, 15 April 2016 (EDT)
It seems like an article can be created now, but under {{conjecture}}, at least to my knowledge of the game and MarioWiki's current content. To access Peach's end of the chest and not Merluvlee's end, only certain end of chapter sequences allow anytime access. Since you are reconstructing the article in general, wouldn't {{construction}} be called for? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:57, 15 April 2016 (EDT)
An article could be created under a conjectural name, yes. I have no idea as to what it's called, though. --TucayoSig.png The 'Shroom 19:08, 15 April 2016 (EDT)
For the record, the game refers to it as "a beautifully crafted treasure chest" once and "a mysterious treasure chest" multiple times. The guide also calls it "the storeroom treasure chest". Calling the article "Treasure chest (Paper Mario)" would be find, and it hardly counts as a conjectural name. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
So the article name should be Mysterious Treasure Chest? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:41, 15 April 2016 (EDT)
That might be pushing it too far; it's ultimately up to your discretion, but "mysterious treasure chest" is treated far more as a generic descriptor than a proper name. Without anything more definitive, we sometimes have no choice but to grab a name from a random piece of dialogue, but in this case, I'd prefer the name I suggested. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
So mysterious treasure chest it is then? I think this is the best we can do, unless there is a strategy guide calling it something else. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:48, 15 April 2016 (EDT)
There are PrimaGames and BradyGames guides out there for Paper Mario, but it's a moot point if nobody owns them. The guide I cited about is the Nintendo Player's Guide, and again, it only seems to refer to the chest as the "storeroom treasure chest". As I said above, I'd prefer "Treasure Chest (Paper Mario)", but again, I'll leave it up to you. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
OK, Treasure Chest (Paper Mario) as the main page and using Mysterious Treasure Chest and mysterious treasure chest as redirects and will be mentioned as alternative names. I'll be using Treasure Chest (Wario Land 4) as a suggested structure. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 22:01, 15 April 2016 (EDT)
The pages have been created and have been properly linked to. Feel free to make edits. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:06, 15 April 2016 (EDT)
So I've just replayed the part in question and the term "mysterious treasure chest" is actually used fully like that three times. It is not capitalized and thus not a proper name, but the fact that characters insist on putting the word "mysterious" in front of it might lend credence to calling the page "Mysterious treasure chest". - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 13:08, 16 April 2016 (EDT)

Move this page to "Paper Mario (game)"[edit]

I think this page should be moved to Paper Mario (game) or Paper Mario 64, and Paper Mario (disambiguation) should be moved to this page. However, there were so many pages that link here, I would not be able to fix all the links myself. I just wanted to check before taking action.-YoshiFlutterJump (talk) 14:13, 4 June 2017 (EDT)

Usually, the name of the game takes precedence, like with Luigi's Mansion. If the game needs an identifier, it's because there are two games with the same name, like Mario Tennis and Mario Tennis. In other words, no. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:07, 6 June 2017 (EDT)

Move page[edit]

Should we move this page to Paper Mario (game) I think there are 4 different pages with this name and the disambiguation page is (disambiguation) but this pages title remains. Is there a reason or proposal I missed for this? Chat Man (talk) 18:47, 1 November 2017 (EDT)

Wait I just saw it... nevermind, but I still think the character is somewhat important Chat Man (talk) 18:48, 1 November 2017 (EDT)

Bill blaster[edit]

I do not think a bill blaster is a minni boss but if it is wouldn't bombshell blasters be to? Bubbasour11 sprite.pngBubbasour1117

Bill Blaster has the miniboss music, a single encounter, is part of a specific event in the game, and never respawns. B. Bill Blasters have the normal battle music, multiple encounters, and do respawn. Also, B. Bill Blasters can be fled from and ran past. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:24, October 8, 2021 (EDT)

Ghost Gulping[edit]

Where is the “Ghost Gulping” theme? (If you don’t know, it’s Tubba Blubba’s theme when the player fights him.) —-OhoJeeOnFire (talk) 13:24, October 12, 2021 (EDT)
