Talk:List of Yoshi designs in Yoshi's Woolly World

Should we also try to get the Yoshi designs that come from scanning the amiibo from the regular patterns? When you put a Yoshi amiibo to put a design on, you get a choice out of 3 patterns for all the stage unlocked designs, eg. Moo Moo Yoshi also has 2 others to choose from when you scan an amiibo. If this is a list of Yoshi designs, I think we should include these extra recoloured designs. Pinkolol16 (talk) 05:26, 26 July 2015 (EDT)

Lucas, Roy and Ryu[edit]

As of now, scanning Lucas' amiibo gives the same generic design the Pokémon give. The other DLC fighters are probably going to do the same unless Nintendo updates the game. (Unlike the Pokémon amiibo, the official amiibo site lists Lucas as compatible.) SaturnYoshi (talk) 02:29, 3 January 2016 (EST)

These characters need pages.[edit]

These are all playable characters, and they are unique and individual species of Yoshi (or 'Yarn Yoshi', if you will). I can do it myself later if need be, but these should all have articles and probably not this list page. Shadow2 (talk) 03:06, 10 March 2016 (EST)

I honestly think this is overkill, especially with the organization (the nav template will be a nightmare to think of), and besides, what unique information will they have other than "they're Yoshi, but this color, and you unlock them by collecting Wonder Wool here" for like, 50 consecutive articles? I interpret these as alternate Yoshi costumes, and I think the list is the best way to organize these things. If we must have "articles" they should all be redirects and anchors to this page. Basically what Baby Luigi said. If the different Yoshis had separate personalities, abilities, or what-have-you then I would probably be on board for separating them, but they don't. Therefore, I think it would be better if they all were on one page instead of, like, 70 pages. JLuigi.pngJ-Luigi (talk) 15:57, 10 March 2016 (EST)

The yoshis in Wooly World, in gameplay term, are skins. There's nothing that distinguish them beside appearance, so all 50 articles would be mad-lips of "[Yoshi skin] is a Yoshi in Yooshi's Wooly World. It looks like [something]. It is unlocked by collecting all 5 yarn things in [level]". The obvious counterpoint is "Well all the Yoshi colors have separate pages!" to which the obvious response is that the Yoshi colours have different abilities (in SMW and Yoshi's Story), and personalities in alternate medias such as Super Mario-kun.

Splitting all these would result in 50+ short and repetitive articles that don't convey any more useful information than this chart already does. It's a terrible idea. --Glowsquid (talk) 17:13, 10 March 2016 (EST)

This wiki's policies are silly. They are not skins because you can see them all standing in the plaza as unique, identifiable playable characters. If we are required to go so far as to create an article for the Arcade Bunny, then there's no harm in articles for actual characters of the Yoshi universe. Short? Probably. We have plenty of short articles for stuff like Paper Mario recipes. Short is not the same as a Stub. Shadow2 (talk) 01:54, 11 March 2016 (EST)
1: Notice the "in gameplay term".
2:The arcade bunny page is a completely different matter. A more relevant comparison would be nameless, non plot-relevant NPCs in the Mario RPGs or the different Koopa Troopa shell colours (surprise, we don't have articles on those either) {I also don't care for articles about characters like the arcade bunny or Monita so you're preaching to the choir here.)
3: You ignored the crux of my argument , which is that making a page for all those skins doesn't convey any more useful information than the template already does. The only thing that can be said about those characters is what they look like, and how to unlock them. The template shows what they look like and how to get them.

The Paper Mario recipes pages are short yes, but they convey more than mad-lipped information: where to find the items outside of making a recipe, the item's effect, for which recipe it can be used... etc. You could theorically put that into a template, but it would be an ugly unwiedly template, and by shrinking the available writing space, you lose clarity of information.

Compare this to the yoshis, where there's no unique information to say about them. "The Lucina Yoshi is a Yoshi in Yoshi's Wooly World. It is patterned after Lucina. It is unlocked by scanning the Lucina Amiibo." is indeed not a stub, because that's all that can be said about the character. I also never talked about stubs either, so I have no idea why you brought that up. --Glowsquid (talk) 08:19, 11 March 2016 (EST)
Like all three of us have said, it would essentially be 50+ pages of repetition. I already said that if they had separate personalities and what-have-you, then yes, maybe this would be a feasible option. However, their only difference is what they look like. We actually had a TPP about something similar that failed because of how the three pages in question would have been nothing but repeated information. 50+ short pages of "____ Yoshi is a special Yoshi pattern in Yoshi's Woolly World unlocked by 'collecting the five Wonder Wools in _____' or 'scanning the ______ amiibo.' It is patterned after _____." is pointless and unneeded. I know I'm basically repeating what Glowsquid said, but I don't think I can stress enough that doing this would add that many unneeded articles to the wiki. I'm sorry, I really am, but where is the useful information on the Arcade Bunny page as it pertains to the Mario series? Shadow2 (talk) 03:09, 13 March 2016 (EDT)
If the arcade bunny bunny offends you to your very core, there's a simple and direct remedy to that: make a talk page proposal to delete it. If you're not going to actually address any of the arguments explaining why it's not really a good idea to make a page about the 50+ yoshi costumes in Wooly World and fall back on "But a page I really don't like exist! It's not analoguous to this situation, but I really don't like that page!", you're not going to get any closer to your goal and it's not going to be a productive exchange for you or us. --Glowsquid (talk) 07:13, 13 March 2016 (EDT)

Some missing amiibo costumes[edit]

I have provided images of six of the missing amiibo costumes on my userpage, but I don't have sufficient photo-manipulation skills to add them to the article itself. Could I request someone grab my images, crop them, add them to the article, and then delete mine? Phineas81707 (talk) 02:09, 14 March 2016 (EDT)

I just noticed this message, so I may be replying a bit late, but yes, I will do that :) Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:01, 1 November 2016 (EDT)
Thanks. In the intervening time, I acquired a Robin amiibo, so I can add that. I find it unlikely that I will be able to contribute any more amiibo designs, but if they're still missing when and if I can, I'll add them to the list. Phineas81707 (talk) 08:26, 3 November 2016 (EDT)
Oh, I went ahead and added that for you, haha! The remaining amiibo can be hard to come by, but don't spend all your money on them. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:38, 5 November 2016 (EDT)

Boosted amiibo Compatibility in Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]

Since Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World has more amiibo designs compatible with the game than Yoshi's Woolly World, should these be added under a seperate header, or should a new page be added altogether? Now that I think about it, Poochy might need to have a similar concept on this wiki considering his designs in Poochy Dash. 296lmn20 (talk) 09:26, 5 February 2017 (EST)(296lmn20)

Three missing amiibo costumes[edit]

When using the Yarn Yoshi amiibos, three costumes are added in the amiibo tent. They all have same name, in italian it is "Yoshi di lana" (in english I guess it is Yarn Yoshi), but different colors (green, pink and light blue) 02:30, 7 February 2017 (CET)

These are still missing.71.222.186.179 06:57, March 27, 2020 (EDT)

Famicom Yoshi and Super Famicom Yoshi in the Japanese version[edit]

Needs images of the Famicom Yoshi (NES Yoshi) and Super Famicom Yoshi (SNES Yoshi) from the Japanese version. Their design differ from the NA/EU versions, with NES Yosh's design based on the Famicom and SNES Yoshi's design based on the Super Famicom. Infinite8 23:11, 17 February 2017 (EST)
