Hi. I'm a fan. I live in Australia and I'm a she.
How'd I even learn about Mario? I suppose I'll just dedicate this user page to that a little bit.
Back at the tail end of 2007 I had gotten my first DS for Christmas. Before this point I had hardly an understanding of video games being a little kid. You could say it was with my obtaining of the Bowser Kart in my Nintendogs game but that isn't really the full story. A friend of mine when I asked what games they had stated they got Nintendogs too alongside Mario Kart. I was like "what's Mario Kart?" and then after a download play session I ended up getting MKDS for my 10th birthday after much pestering. Much Waluigi Pinball was to be had playing with Yoshi. I was bad, but I spent my every day playing it. I still can't snake but I blew my entire childhood playing that game trying to beat it. I've got all characters and courses.
My first Super Mario game however would come from an experience I had at a small daycare center. At first it was necessary only for one trip but I relished in social experiences so much that I begged to go there of my own volition during the holidays until I could no longer do it. It was there when everyone brought their DSes that one guy brought Super Mario 64 DS and played the download play where everyone's a Yoshi running around the environment trying to get a Star. It was that experience that lead me to ask a friend at school for the same game as a ROM (we were well into that at that point since games were expensive we just didn't care lol) and the rest is history in regards to my history with looking up the original and everything I did online about those.
I bought a couple more Mario games during the 3DS-Wii U era, slowly growing just a little more disappointed. My interest in entries wavered until Super Mario Odyssey, where I just decided to end it.
If I'm engaging with Mario these days, it's probably reading about whatever the latest venture is. Mario was a bit of a gateway for numerous other things. If you see me around I'm more often than not tweaking a sentence. Grammar/spelling. It sticks out to me.
