Hmmm...[edit]

Do you think this page should be moved to Referee Lakitu? Only asking. Mariofan28047 (talk) 15:58, February 15, 2024 (EST)

"Lakitu" appears to be the official name for it whereas "Referee Lakitu" would be a conjectural name, so we can't do that. Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 16:12, February 15, 2024 (EST)
Also, please don't give discussions vague titles. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:15, February 15, 2024 (EST)

A playable character?[edit]

The "playable characters" category is linked here. But when has he ever been playable in a game? If it refers to the Lakitu playable in some Mario Kart games, this is not the same one. Should it be removed or is there an instance I'm forgetting? Kaptain Skurvy Kaptain Skurvy

Mario Baseball games[edit]

I do think it might be worth a minor mention about Lakitu's umpire role in various sports games including but not limited to Mario Tennis games, Mario Superstar Baseball, Mario Super Sluggers, Mario Sports Mix, and the Mario & Sonic series. I don't think it's an accident despite this Lakitu lacking the headset. Mario It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 13:06, February 22, 2025 (EST)

The key art for Mario Kart World features two Lakitus with the headset, one with the green shell and one with a red shell (and shades), both as referees. How will this affect our coverage? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:25, April 2, 2025 (EDT)

I'd say we should just cover them both here as they're just doing the same hosting thing, just under slightly different rules. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 10:59, April 3, 2025 (EDT)
Better to wait until release before making big moves, but depending on how this goes, we may want to consider touching up the title/identifier(s). LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:26, April 3, 2025 (EDT)

Should there be a page on the playable Lakitu?[edit]

How come does this Lakitu have a page while the other one, the Lakitu that's been playable since Mario Kart 8, hasn't had a page at all. Aside from the fact that this wiki doesn't have a page on the playable enemy characters for some reason, I still think the other one needs a page, especially as the Lakitu with a red shell is seemingly and is supposed to get his own article from Mario Kart World. The playable Lakitu probably needs his own page. ILoveBFDI1215 (talk) 16:19, April 4, 2025 (EDT)

Two corrections, 1: Actually this Lakitu has been here since Mario Kart 7, but more importantly 2: we can see in the footage of Mario Kart World that the playable Lakitu does not have a red shell, and has a regular green one. So this "individual" Lakitu is now gone. I am actually more suprised that this Referee Lakitu actually has his own page, considering how the instruction manual for Super Mario Kart just called him Fishin' Lakitu. How come the Yellow Toad host that from Mario Party series that was here since Mario Party 9 doesn't have a page too? Kirby the Formling (talk) 06:55, April 5, 2025 (EDT)
For the Toad thing, that article did exist. This proposal says we can't prove that the hosting Toads are recurring characters and not just different characters stepping up every time, and that they aren't that important. It resulted in the information on Toads as hosts in Mario Party getting deleted wholesale, so they stay on the species page. Salmancer (talk) 06:48, April 6, 2025 (EDT)
