Prince Froggy's Fort is the fourth level in World 3 in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. It is the home of Froggy, the mid-boss of World 3. This level's playable Yoshi is the Yellow Yoshi.

Overview[edit]

The first section of this level takes place in a misty swamp. Yellow Yoshi begins right next to an Egg Plant. Yoshi must head to the right while avoiding enemies such as Shy Guys, Spear Guys, and Floppy Fish. Hitting a Winged Cloud causes a bridge to appear, allowing Yellow Yoshi to reach a ledge with a Grinder. Below is a wall covered in thorns. Yellow Yoshi may throw eggs at the thorns to break them, revealing a Winged Cloud containing Stars as well as a hidden door.

This door takes Yellow Yoshi into a bonus area, where he must become a Submarine with the help of a morph bubble and travel through a small lake, collecting Red Coins and regular coins while dodging a Ball 'N' Chain. Just to the left is a Yoshi Block allowing Yellow Yoshi to return to normal and surface. At the very end of this first section is a Grinder between two Dizzy Dandies, as well as a door leading to the next area.

This section takes place in a misty lake in a jungle. Yellow Yoshi must avoid the Floppy Fish that jump out of the water toward him. When Yellow Yoshi spots a door, he may enter it to find a small room with a few Red Coins and another door. This door takes Yellow Yoshi to a small, dark room with two Clawdaddies. Defeating them both causes a Special Flower to appear. Returning to the previous area, Yoshi must head right past a Ball 'N' Chain and gray blocks he can destroy with eggs. There is another Special Flower nearby, though there is also a Spray Fish.

The next door takes Yellow Yoshi to a room with a bucket attached to the ceiling. Yellow Yoshi must throw an egg at it to knock it into the water, allowing him to cross while collecting Red Coins and avoiding Floppy Fish. On the other side of the lake are Grinders on the walls and a Winged Cloud containing an extra life. Returning to the previous area, Yellow Yoshi must use a paddle wheel to cross the water, evading the Boo Guys on the ceiling and throwing bombs at him. In between them are two Winged Clouds containing a Special Flower and Stars, respectively. At the end is a Middle Ring and a door that takes Yellow Yoshi to a dark room. Here, Yellow Yoshi must cross dark corridors and evade Clawdaddies before reaching the door to the next section.

This door takes Yoshi to a room with spikes on the floor. Yellow Yoshi must hit Winged Clouds to make bridges appear over them. Lemon Drops may appear on the ceiling. There is a Special Flower touching the third layer of spikes that Yellow Yoshi may collect with an egg. After this, Yellow Yoshi must use a paddle wheel to cross a long layer of thorns, collecting the final Special Flower along the way. After this is a door that takes Yellow Yoshi to one last room with Frog Pirates, a Middle Ring, and a Dizzy Dandy next to the red door, which leads to the boss fight with Froggy.

Trivia[edit]

  • This is the only level where Kamek's magic affects Yoshi and Baby Mario and not the boss.
  • Although the level's boss fight takes place in Froggy's stomach, Toadies still appear to abduct Baby Mario if Yoshi is harmed and unable to retrieve the lost baby.
  • This is one of only two fort levels to begin outside, with the other level being Marching Milde's Fort.
