Mecha Yoshi is a robotic version of Yoshi form that only appears in the last chapter of the Yoshi's Safari story arc in Super Mario-kun volume 9.

As a result of the chaotic force afflicting the Mushroom Kingdom that turned its inhabitants into electric appliances, Yoshi is turned into Mecha Yoshi when he arrives at Bowser's Castle with Mario and an already transformed Prince Pine. In this form, he is able to store the Crystal Kinoko in his openable behind, but while showing this off, a Boomerang Brother steals the exposed mushroom and attacks him. Yoshi's head is taken away by a boomerang and, returning to the sender, Yoshi (still in function) manages to eat the enemy, defeating it. Mario then reattaches the head and they reach Bowser. During the battle, Mario uses Yoshi's metal body as a shield and, when Bowser is defeated, the Crystal Kinoko retrieved, and the chaos is wished away, all the transformed victims return to normal, including Yoshi, who does not report any of the injuries he had a few moments ago.
