MarioWiki talk:Administrators
Maybe more about Patrollers?
I am Confused 22:05, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
- We do have our own page here. Great Gonzo
I thought this was a general page about all admins. It seems to be more about sysops. Why not name it MarioWiki:Sysops?
I am Confused 22:15, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
"Administrators are users on the Super Mario Wiki who have sysop rights." Not patrollers. Wa TC@Y 16:47, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

Ummm... you should really go ask on MarioWiki talk: FAQ.Knife (talk) 21:19, 25 August 2007 (EDT)
That doesn't say ANYTHING about how to even become an administrator. the only reason I went on that page was for that. Hyper Guy (talk)

- No offense, but you're lacking quite a lot for becoming a sysop. Most of all, main space edits. Plus: Don't ask for becoming one. See here for our criteria. Time Questions 18:41, 24 September 2009 (EDT)
Uploading images[edit]
Hi i want to upload a image of fire mini toad, as requested, but I'm not allowed. should I sent it to someone?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gamefreak (talk).
- Hm... You could probably upload it on a webspace host and then post the URL here. -
Gabumon(talk) 08:22, 22 December 2009 (EST)
- Here it is Fire mini toad . I'm not sure if his jacket is right cause it's hard to see on the little ds screen

Images Needing Deleting[edit]
There are duplicates of images I previously uploaded. This image is his and this is mine. And this is also his and this is mine. Note that I uploaded the images before he did. And does anyone know where I can contact a admin/moderator. Pikmin1254
- I'll take care of it in a moment. - Gabumon(talk) 00:01, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Do we delete user pages?

Image Deleting[edit]
I want to point out that the statement saying that deleted images can't be restored is false. You actually can restore deleted images. M&SG (talk) 17:40, 16 March 2011 (EDT)

May I please be a sysop I actually had a dream about becoming a sysop anyway please accept I have a pretty clean record and i dont do bad stuff. meeper (talk)
I am no enemy[edit]
Please help me, I am a blocked user who has been trying to get help somehow in one way about me being blocked. My real username is, "BalloonBoolicious9090" or so it used to be. I know I am not allowed here, or to edit pages. But let me tell you this: I've heard from my emails I've been blocked for trolling and being a sockpuppet, using a username called, "Unknown9999" and it also has my IP address. But that user, was not me. People thought it was me, but it is actually some person that hacked into my account somehow, I think but I'm not sure. I know I wouldn't commit those foul actions. I am actually a nice guy. Would a nice guy like me put up with foul fights? Last year, I've helped this wiki, then I decided to relax. Then when I came back, that's when I found this crisis. So please, tell me what can I do to save myself. I am in deep need of attention for help. --User Talk:Note9090
- We have sent you one final email. Your claims of being hacked hold no water whatsoever, and you will not be unblocked. Please do not sockpuppet again, because you are only further reinforcing our decision to ban you for breaking wiki rules. Stop wasting your time trying to badger us into unblocking you, and move on. - Walkazo 23:34, 18 August 2012 (EDT)
Active or Inactive[edit]
I know have this Special:ListUsers/sysop, but can we have another list stating which are active and inactive? The Awesome 08:54, 28 December 2012 (EST)
My Userpage[edit]
When I go on my userpage I was gonna create it but it said I do not have the permission to create this page please help. Pokebub (talk) 01:50, 3 April 2013 (EDT)
- Ya need to make two more edits. See MarioWiki:Autoconfirmed users.
What I can do[edit]
I am posting here because the link from the edit page told me to contact the people on this page. I don't have much Mario knowledge but am happy to fix links, clean up phrasing, standardize punctuation, and other edits that require no specialized knowledge, and I think that's still a valid contribution. If you must use a CAPTCHA, please do the standard skewed picture of text. It feels not only a bit trying but also somewhat exclusionary requiring that editors answer fanclub questions.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.168.3.127 (talk).
- Answering the question should be as hard as a simple Google search, but you're obviously too good for that. GBAToad (talk) 06:35, 10 November 2013 (EST)
I have a quick question...[edit]
What is a "sockpuppet"?
- A sockpuppet is an extra account created by someone who already has an account. Usually, the sockpuppet account is made to avoid a block, "start fresh" after the first account is given a warning or some other punishment (again, including blocks), or simply to stir up trouble by vandalizing. If a user forgets their password and has to make a new account, the new account isn't a "sockpuppet", but the user should contact an administrator to let them know what happened and get the old, unusable account blocked, since only one account is allowed per person. Siblings should also alert admins right away and/or make it clear on their user or talk pages that they're different people so that they're not mistaken for sockpuppets. - Walkazo 15:55, 9 April 2014 (EDT)
Let's be democratic.[edit]
This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal. |
vetoed by the administrators
Rule 16--"Proposals cannot be made about promotions and demotions. Users can only be promoted and demoted by the will of the administration."--applies to TPPs as well.
This is a wiki, it is a free encyclopedia. This proposal might seem a bit difficult to understand. As a member of the Wiki, I think all wiki members should decide who becomes an administrator and take care of the organization of the site. Each year, members choose (By Community Poll) who becomes Patrollers or Administrators for the next year. But, if you want post application to become patrollers you will need the agreement of the proprietor (Porplemontage) for your application to be accepted. After that, when it’s the Community Poll, the majority of members choose who becomes the next Patrollers or Administrators. (We should have at least 3 Bureaucrats , 6 administrators and 9 patrollers each year) At the next election of the Bureaucrats, Administrators and Patrollers. They have the right to represented again to continue having the job. Remember, the proprietor (Porplemontage) will always have the latest decisions that who will have the chance to have his application accepted and if you use this position as a means of superiority, you can lose his job. If you have question, comments. If this passed, maybe in may, we will vote for our patrollers of may 2015 to may 2016.

Comments[edit]
This shouldn't be decided by proposal, you might want to make a discussion about this rather than a proposal which relies on majority rule and it's quite possibly that vote by majority may favor popular people rather than actually competent people. Alas, the proposal rules don't allow this either. In my opinion, the administrators make good judgement anyway so there's no problem with the current system (well no MAJOR problem anyway since most vandalism is kept in check most of the time) Ray Trace(T|C) 20:52, 16 March 2015 (EDT)
- Probably you have reasons, I am unsure of this proposal , but I like this idea for improving the wiki.--LudwigVon (talk) 20:58, 16 March 2015 (EDT)
Administrator[edit]
Hi, it was to say that the list of administrator to do likes this:
Actual administrators
- Gamefreak75 (t)
The current which admins:
Are more active for over 1 month
Former administrators (from what I know)
Instead of:MarioWiki/Sysop/Administrator I know what, Called: MarioWiki:List of administrator, I expect being anserwed ! --Captain Yoshi 11:32, 19 May 2015 (EDT)
- If I'm understanding you correctly, you're asking for there to be a page that lists current administrators that also shows onsite activity. While I'm sure something like that could probably be rigged, we already have a functional list: Special:ListUsers/sysop. If you're interested in individual activity, you could always click on an administrators name via that list and few wiki wide edits. -- Ghost Jam 14:35, 19 May 2015 (EDT)
- I feel criticize ! :-( Short... :-> --Captain Yoshi 13:20, 20 May 2015 (EDT)
Naming[edit]
Just want to know, why this rank (Adnministrators) is not name Sysop, because I saw on Userpedia that their name is Sysop and that the name Administrator is also a name use to describe Patrollers, Sysops and Bureaucrats? --(TALK) 19:30, 2 August 2015 (EDT)
- "Sysop" can be interchangeable with "admin", although sometimes, "admin" is used as the umbrella term for all users entrusted with additional tools (I personally don't like the term "admin"), but sometimes, it's used to refer to the rank usually above the patroller rank. The context matters the most in this case, but I hope I helpfully explained the usage of the term in this wiki. Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 21:12, 2 August 2015 (EDT)
- Yes, you very well explained it. Thank you a lot!--(TALK) 21:32, 8 August 2015 (EDT)
Spamming IP[edit]
http://www.mariowiki.com/Special:Contributions/23.27.250.220 is meerly spamming pages and immediately reverting them. Obviously they do not intend to edit properly. CrashBash (talk) 03:15, 23 November 2015 (EST)
- It's just a recurring spambot that changes its IP, just directly inform admins. Ray Trace(T|C) 15:37, 23 November 2015 (EST)
View and restore deleted files[edit]
Can Sysops view and restore a deleted image as well because it missed that bit in viewing and restoring deleted pages and their history, does this mean once an image is deleted it's gone for good? (talk) (edits) 04:41, 14 June 2016 (EDT)
- We can undelete images as long as it's not before a certain date. Older versions of mediawiki didn't allow that, but it's possible now. --Glowsquid (talk) 08:30, 14 June 2016 (EDT)
Ouch...[edit]
Yesterday, I was surfing this wiki, and I saw that two admins, Gamefreak75 and Yoshi876, resigned from their admin positions! We used to have 13 active admins, and now we have only 11 admins! Mari0fan100 (talk) 16:41, 21 January 2019 (EST)
- They weren't too active on here anymore editing-wise, if you look at their contributions. Might have maintained the server, though. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:43, 21 January 2019 (EST)
- They left on their own accord. That's how it's usually done unless someone absolutely cannot be contacted for some reason. 17:27, 21 January 2019 (EST)
- For those of you looking at my previous comment and saying "It's 14 active admins, not 13 active admins!" and "It's 12 admins, not 11 admins!", did you know that Walkazo died in a traffic accident near the end of March 2016? Mari0fan100 (talk) 21:11, 21 January 2019 (EST)
- Those of us that do typically prefer not to be reminded, I imagine. I didn't even know her personally, but still held her in high regard, and was hurt deeply when that happened. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:59, 21 January 2019 (EST)

Walkazo[edit]
Shouldn't Walkazo be removed from this list? I know her account still has administrator rights, but I don't think she should be on a list of current admins. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 17:29, 21 January 2019 (EST)
- How the list of patrollers/admins/bureaucrats are displayed is through a transclusion of the users with that right. In order for her to be removed, she'd have to lose her rights, which has been agreed to not happen. 17:32, 21 January 2019 (EST)
...[edit]
Ok, this is getting awkward. We just lost another admin, and it doesn't look like any more people will be promoted to admin position anytime soon. Can resigned admins be replaced, so the balance is 14 admins again? Mari0fan100 (talk) 21:21, 18 February 2019 (EST)
- That's up to the staff. Admins come and go, and there's no set number. No need for the commentary, please. Mario JC 23:23, 18 February 2019 (EST)
Merge[edit]
I’d like it if you merged this article with: MarioWiki:Patrollers, MarioWiki:Bureaucrats and MarioWiki:Proprietor that’d be named “MarioWiki:Staff”. It should have a section for the proprietor (Porplemontage), and the sub-sections would be the sections from the MarioWiki:Proprietor article, you know? It’d keep this formula with a section for the bureaucrats, another one for the admins and another one for the patrollers. In those last 3, there’d be sub-sections with the past ones of these (like, past bureaucrats, past admins and past patrollers). There would be also a section for everyone who’s ever written for the 'Shroom and all the Mario Boards staff (forum moderators; chat operators; awards committees; poll committees). I just realized “MarioWiki:Staff” wouldn’t be referring to the Mario Boards in the title, but you’ll think of something. And Porplebot would be there somewhere. Please tell me what you think. - It's fine the way it is right now. In the future, let staff members take care of staff matters such as this. Ray Trace(T|C) 10:10, November 30, 2024 (EST)
