From the months of December and January, but especially this week, Dec. 4-8, my contributions to this wiki will likely be limited. I am performing in a play and will most likely have little time to edit. I will try to get on as often as possible, but my activity will slow. Thanks, and keep this wiki in shape! How dare you let the "real world" have more importance to you than the internet!:P Just check in often and it's ok, we've established a "vibrant" status according to WikiIndex. Wa TC@Y 21:16, 4 December 2006 (EST)- What play. I perform all the time WarioLoaf (talk)

Little Message =D
This is Kelt, just been REALLY busy will school and trying to pass my weather class with an A; I'd like to make a very minor announcement. I see this on wikipedia AND the Mario Wiki, and I easily notice it: Some image descriptions have periods, some do not. I often went on countless little journeys to random articles to try and place a period at the end of every image description I could find that didn't have one, but there are so many more. From now on, can everyone just put a period at the end of image descriptions? Remember, they're sentences too. Thanks. --King Piranha Plant 21:53, 13 December 2006 (EST)
- Hey Kelt, what ever happened to alliancing with MFGG? Wa TC@Y 22:06, 13 December 2006 (EST)
- Ah-HA! THERE you are! You're back! Cool! I've been working on articles for SML2! 3D
Wario Wiki
I see this Wario Wiki move template... where is the Wario Wiki? At the last archive, I asked where it was some weeks ago. Does it work now? wario.mariowiki.com doesn't bring anything. Caps Lock LORD
- Whoah, I'm surprised you knew the old link...it changed during the server move. And I'm keeping it a secret until Steve gives the OK (he'll actually add it to the wiki alliance sidebar). Wa TC@Y 15:10, 21 December 2006 (EST)

User of the month
Over on Wookieepedia, there is a "Wookieepedian of the month" award. (Read the top of this page to see how it's done) Does anybody think it would be a good idea to have something like that here? --Yoshi626 20:39, 9 January 2007 (EST)
No. I don't think it's a good idea. Paper Jorge
Let's see...my primary concern would be that users would become jealous over who gets the award, and also, users would contribute great edits only to get the award, not add to the wiki. Wa TC@Y 22:28, 9 January 2007 (EST)
Nice proposal, but it would never work. Maybe when we have so many users that recognition is a problem, but for now no. Many ideas like this were canned before.Knife (talk)
Honestly, we already have a contest of sorts going on. Check out the UserScore page at the bottom of the Special Pages list. -- Ghost Jam 07:21, 17 January 2007 (EST)
Gaddgets
We seriously need someone with Mario Party Advance to make pages for the Gaddgets, and add images, if possible. Magic Lamp also needs its own pages, separate from the other Magic Lamp.Waluigi Freak 99 14:59, 15 January 2007 (EST)
Signature Policy
I have seen other Wikis with guidelines as to what signatures can and can't have. Guidelines include things like no linking to the Log Out page, and restrictions on how big signatures can be. Think that would work here?Waluigi Freak 99 20:32, 15 January 2007 (EST)
- We already have a limit in Help:Signature on size, and no one here links to the log out page... Wa TC@Y 21:52, 15 January 2007 (EST)
- Okay.Waluigi Freak 99 18:54, 16 January 2007 (EST)
Characters from Other Nintendo Games
We currently have articles for characters like Samus, Link, and Ness, and even Tootie, but articles for characters such as Banjo and Conker have been deleted. Is there a set policy for inclusion of such characters in this wiki?Waluigi Freak 99 18:54, 16 January 2007 (EST)
- A lot of articles from the Banjo and Conker series have been moved to the Donkey Kong Wiki; however, some have not. All these spin-off wikis seem up in the air at this moment, as our first (DK Wiki) is not doing so well right now. I think some articles have not been moved because some users are waiting for a Banjo and/or Conker Wiki to appear. Characters from the SSB series are valid at this wiki, but only from a Marioverse perspective (see Talk: Princess Zelda). Please note that articles from the SSB series are secondary in importance to articles from the primary Marioverse. -- Son of Suns
Unused Images
If you take a look at Special:Unusedimages, you'd see that we have over 550 unused images weighing down the server. As much as I love house-cleaning, this is too much for just me. If any other sysops could drop in a delete a few every now and again, we can get this mess cleaned up. -- Ghost Jam 07:32, 17 January 2007 (EST)
- I remember that HK-47 brought this up. I believe that Steve said that there is a ton of bandwidth space and that unused images should stay, but don't quote me. Wa TC@Y 16:35, 17 January 2007 (EST)
- Maybe bandwidth was the wrong way for me to attack this. My main concern was having an assload of images that just aren't going to be used. Ex: I deleted images of Toad and Kuribo's Shoe that were uploaded back when the wiki was created. The matching pages use different images. The old ones aren't going to be used, so what's the point of having them? -- Ghost Jam 17:13, 17 January 2007 (EST)

How many of us still take the time to read articles? I mean, as just a source of information/entertainment? I find that it's hard to do that around here. I start reading and find things that need to be cleaned up. How does everyone else feel? -- Ghost Jam 22:41, 17 January 2007 (EST)

WarioWiki
I don't want to hop from wiki to wiki just to find out random information about ONE series. Yes, it is the same series. Why else would the main character be an important character in this series? Why else would Mario make appearances in some games? I'm against the DKWiki thing for the same reason. I just KNOW information pertaining the Yoshi's Island sub-series is going to be moved. So what are we gonna do? - Hyper Mushroom, who originally put this post in his talk page, then put it here for more attention
- Honestly, each series has a different reason for having it's own wiki. DK series has an assload of characters, so it needs its own section, beyond that, I don't see the need. Wario has an equal assload, but in items. Again, I don't see the need for a wiki beyond that. -- Ghost Jam 07:35, 22 January 2007 (EST)
- I was thinking about this before as well. The DKWiki was an experiment to see if having multiple wikis would work out. If it's becoming too much trouble to manage more than one, let alone the ones we haven't added yet, there could be reason to forget the idea and go back to having just the MarioWiki. If it seems senseless trying to bring back the DKWiki articles here, just think it's either that or moving articles from here to 10 other wikis. But not unless a majority feels the same way. --Steve (talk) 08:09, 22 January 2007 (EST)
- I personally like the Mariowiki idea as a whole. Your limited f what you can write about a certain character (exs:DK and Wario articles), where if its one whole thing, we can get some Banjo material, some DK material and make this a perfect Wiki, cause some of my favorite characters are from those series and its a pain to flip there to edit. WarioLoaf (talk)
- I think one wiki is much easier, and I see the annoyance of Hyper Mushroom's point about searching another wiki for a similar topic. The problem is, a Nintendo wiki is way too much for us. The Mario-DK-Wario-Banjo whatever wiki is too hard to name, but we don't want to exclude the DK or Wario series items from any of the wikis... Wa TC@Y 15:08, 22 January 2007 (EST)
- I would love to reintegrate the DK Wiki here. Like Wayoshi said, a Nintendo Wiki would be too big. DK, Wario, and even Banjo and Conker are part of the greater Marioverse (along with crossover games). They all have a place at this wiki. It will still be the Mario Wiki, but we can cover other topics that branch from the Marioverse. That's what I would like to see. -- Son of Suns
- I'm for reintegrating DK and Wario back in. No sense in making a big mess out of a little information. -- Ghost Jam 15:37, 22 January 2007 (EST)
- We could have lists and categories pertaining to different series (i.e. in the Characters list, we could list characters from Mario first, then add a section for DK characters, then Wario characters, etc.). Categories would work the same way. -- Son of Suns
I agree half-way. I think Dkwiki should stay as it is at this point hopeless to move it all back. Plus, DK has completly different adventures as opposed to Wario. Maybe a WarioWiki can be created, but not now. I agree that we have to get Dkwiki prepared, but at some point, the Wario series will grow so big that it rivals that of Dkwiki's individuality. For now, Wario has 10 games under his belt. When the Wario series grow too big, priority will be a problem. So why not just have a wiki for it now? I'll go with whatever you guys decide though. Plus, wouldn't the wiki be edited too much, making a slower wiki?Knife (talk)
Actually I change my mind. One wiki would make me edit the DK series and Wario series more. The page views would also increase. The 'Shroom and FAs could be effortlessly transferred. I still have a minor problem with the workload and too much editing at once.Knife (talk)
Well, it won't be too much effort re-integrating the DK Wiki to the Mario Wiki. The DK Wiki has been failing, with Sir Grodus doing most of the editing. If the info was back here, a lot more users would work on the articles (I know I would). there are only like 400 articles there, and with enough help, it should take very little time. I personally want to see all Marioverse (even extended Marioverse) info here, so we don't have to hop between wikis to make changes. Wario info should stay here too. I don't think the wiki will slow down with more articles and more users. In fact, this wiki will improve with more users and editors. If the wiki does slow down, Steve is good about updating to better servers, so that we can continue to grow. -- Son of Suns from Knife (talk) on AIM.
- I say the DKWiki and Wariowiki stay...will we add info on Banjo and Conker here? Sounds bad. Paper Jorge
- Too a point, it is bad. Banjo is part of the extended Marioverse, which means so is Clanker, Gunty, Jinjo, etc. We need to put a limit on where the Marioverse ends and something else begins. -- Ghost Jam 20:11, 22 January 2007 (EST)
I'm pretty neutral on this issue, capable of going either way, though it would probably take awhile to transfer all the information at the DKWiki back here. -- Sir Grodus
- It'll be well worth the effort. The more users edit, better quality pages and more Fa choices! Banjo must be here, for he is part of DK's universe. I'd love there to be an article on Bottles here! WarioLoaf (talk)
- Like?: [1] WarioLoaf (talk)
- But, see, that's what I was talking about. Bottles is part of Banjo's universe who is part of Mario's universe. Unless we are planning on having an Extended Extended Marioverse section/category, this is a bad idea. I look at it this way: Was Bottles in any Marioverse game? No? Then he has no place here. -- Ghost Jam 20:18, 22 January 2007 (EST)
- Yea, well add a category then! No big deal. hes part of the Marioverse, the extended Mario verse! WarioLoaf (talk)
See? This is why we need separate wikis, to separate the universes. I changed my mind. If we have ONE wiki, all the information on Banjo and Conker would be cut out. We also cannot have a Banjo and Conker Wiki if the other wikis were closed.Knife (talk)
- Well, we can have everything (DK, Wario, Banjo, Mario...). we can rename it EX-MV! The EX-MV!
- EX= Extended Marioverse
- MV= Marioverse
The problem for Banjo and Conker is that they have very limited information. They have not been in the hundred of games that Mario has been in. Any wiki simply about them would be very small indeed. I believe DK, Wario, Banjo, and Conker have all branched off of the Marioverse, and as such deserve mention here. But, as many of you have indicated, they are not very important compared to primary Marioverse articles. It's like a wiki about the sitcom Cheers. Our primary concern would be writing about that specific show, although we would also expand into the show Fraiser, a spin-off of Cheers. The info in this series is still related to Cheers, but not as important. If Fraiser spun-off into another series, say, a show about Niles, the info would still be relevant to the Cheers wiki, but of even lesser important than the Fraiser info. This wiki will still be called the "Super Mario Wiki", as Mario is our primary focus; spin-off series will just be covered as well - no need for a big long name. Wayoshi and I tried to develop an importance system where the secondary and the tertiary universe would be limited at this wiki. People did not like this idea though; they wanted information about DK and Banjo to be in this wiki and not limited in any form. Categories, templates, and lists can be used to seperate information in the Super Mario Wiki from one to the other. This seperation within one wiki would allow users who just like one universe to work on that universe, while those that want to work on all to work on all. They are all part of Mario's world, but the farther you stray from primary Mario games, the less important the info is (but still relevant to the wiki). Mario info would be in the dominant categories (i.e. Bowser and Mario would be in the category "Characters" not "Mario Characters", while Banjo would be in the category "Banjo Characters, but not "Characters"). All spin-off universe categories would be connected by the dominant category. This would allow for both integration of the greater Marioverse, as well as specialization of each individual universe. This doesn't mean we can't create other wikis, like Star Fox or Kirby. They are independent series that did not branch from the Marioverse. Perhaps series not tied to the Marioverse will be more successful as wikis. -- Son of Suns
- Furthermore, we would need to establish a relations tree. That is, a diagram that outlines the connections between the universes (Marioverse and Extended Marioverse), giving everyone an idea of what we do and do not need. -- Ghost Jam 22:36, 22 January 2007 (EST)
The idea behind the alliance is to have a series of wiki about various game universes, all of which have the ability to link to one another for more information. Mario, which has MANY connections to other series, should be kept to one wiki. Let's work on expanding to Kirby, Starfox, Zelda (maybe not Zelda, as one already exists), Metroid, etc. -- Ghost Jam 22:41, 22 January 2007 (EST)
Yeah. A tree could go in the Marioverse article. This was kinda established in the MarioWiki: Importance Policy page. While Banjo and Conker related articles are legit here (and should be kept), they are not of primary importance (they have some importance, but not much). Mario, Yoshi, DK, Wario, Banjo, Conker, and Super Smash Bros. and other cross-over games (from a Marioverse perspective, of course) all have a place here - just varying degrees of importance. Other Nintendo series are not directly derived from the Marioverse, and thus deserve to be seperate (and have their own wikis, which could connect in various SSB articles, as well articles that are created because of cameo appearances). -- Son of Suns
- Returning to a eight months old argument, The Great Giana Sisters was dirived from Super Mario Bros. It should be listed here, I'm thinking. -- Ghost Jam 22:48, 22 January 2007 (EST)
- Umm....that's more of a rip off then connected by continuity or storylines. It deserves an article merely by what a rip-off the game is, but any other info, characters, items, etc. should remain in that single article. The German game is not connected to the Marioverse, it simply copied the Marioverse. -- Son of Suns
- True, true. I've just always felt that it deserved a place here, as SMB bastard daughter. -- Ghost Jam 22:59, 22 January 2007 (EST)
