Magnifying Glass
A Magnifying Glass Card in Paper Mario: Color Splash.
Description
"Makes things appear larger than they are. Can also fry ants and other various creatures."
First appearance Paper Mario: Color Splash (2016)

The Magnifying Glass is a Thing in Paper Mario: Color Splash. It is found frozen in a block of ice in the freezer at Tangerino Grill, and can only be collected once Mario uses the Hair Dryer to thaw out the ice. While the Magnifying Glass is a 3D object, the lens does function and magnifies whatever is behind it.

Once the Magnifying Glass has been picked up, it is wrung out, refilling Mario's paint and becoming a colorless card. It is kept until it is used in battle, after which it returns to its original position. It can also be purchased from the Wringer for 200 coins. A replica card of the Magnifying Glass also exists, and may be collected from the Battle Spin or Prize Pipe Paths. The Magnifying Glass may also be placed into the Prisma Museum, where it can be tested. Its description mentions it being used to enlarge objects, as well as frying various creatures.

When the Magnifying Glass is used in battle, the scenery changes to a nighttime city setting. The large Magnifying Glass drops into the battlefield. As a steady jazz tune plays, the Magnifying Glass focuses on Mario, making him giant. Mario then tramples all the enemies, dealing massive damage to each of them. The player may press A Button as the Magnifying Glass enlarges Mario to increase this damage.

The Magnifying Glass must be used in two locations: in Port Prisma to enlarge the would-be Red Rescue Squad Apprentice Toad to return him to normal size and thus allow him to join the Rescue Squad, and in Sacred Forest to enlarge a shrunken Warp Pipe and return it to normal size, allowing Mario to battle Kamek.
