List of Mario Sports Mix pre-release and unused content

This is a list of pre-release and unused content for the game Mario Sports Mix.

Early builds

In the pre-final version of the game, the Health Meter in dodgeball was originally going to be split up into four sections, just like the health meter in the Super Mario Galaxy series that is divided into three sections. The final version of it is a meter with one section that depletes correspondingly. There was also a different logo shown at E3 2010. Also, the numbers, placement of bars and other text aesthetics have been altered from the final version.

Unused data

The game contains an unused model for the Final Fantasy character, Bahamut. It contains two animations: one for idle and another for attacking. His fight would have mainly focused on the sport basketball.

Moreover, it also contains unused courts for boss fights in dodgeball and hockey. The former's court even containing a remnant of the boss itself in the model file, being the Final Fantasy character Ifrit. While the latter doesn't have a remnant of the boss in it, it could have been the Final Fantasy character Shiva given the ice theme and her connection with the other unused bosses. The court for the volleyball boss fight is used for the Behemoth boss fight, even though this fight uses a mix of all sports. This suggests that at first every sport would have had its own boss fight, before being reduced to just an ultimate one for all sports.
