Chomp is Wario's standard special move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Wario opens up his mouth and bites forward. It does not have an effect unless the opponent is within Wario's range. Wario's mouth stays open when the special button is held. When Wario grabs on the opponent, he can continuously bite on them dealing a small amount of damage each time he bites on the opponent. The more time Wario can bite is dependent on the enemy's damage.

Chomp can also be used to eat items. Eating large items take longer to swallow, and eating explosives deals 6% damage to Wario. He can also use it to eat certain projectiles.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Chomp has additional changes. Eating items and projectiles now heal 1% damage for Wario and also increases his Wario Waft charge. He can also eat energy projectiles, such as Mario's Fireball, but it does not heal his damage or increase his Wario Waft charge. Finally, eating food items now heal Wario 1.5× the amount it would normally heal him.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Chomp has one of two custom variants:

Inhaling Chomp (named Inhale and Chomp in British English) allows Wario to inhale and suck in opponents and items from a farther range. However, Wario cannot bite opponents as frequently as he can with the default Chomp, dealing less damage overall as a result. The move can be held longer than Chomp, but it has to last at least a second before ending. This customizable move functions similarly to one of Wario's abilities in Wario World, Hyper Suction, where he opens up his mouth to inhale and suck in coins.

Garlic Breath has Wario breathing fumes that can stun nearby opponents and trip distant opponents. However, Wario cannot eat enemies or items with this move, and it is also slower in execution.
