This category is trying to do a noble thing, really. Trouble is, amiibo is a subcategory of Category:Merchandise and it's giving me a headache because of it. The Wario Board surely isn't merchandise, even though Mario Party 10 is trying to evoke real board games with it. The Nintendo 3DS itself also isn't merchandise because it's an outright game console. If it and Wii U are here, then where's Nintendo Switch? Amiibo tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits is here but Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge is not, even though neither should be here because they're both video games and therefore not merchandise. The subcategories only add to the misaligned tree structure. Category:Super Mario amiibo line, Category:Yoshi's Woolly World amiibo line, and Category:Super Smash Bros. amiibo line have character articles in them, which also puts those characters in a merchandise subcategory.

I think this should be split into several categories. An category of amiibo (List of Mario Sports Superstars amiibo cards, Super Mario Cereal, galleries), and then a category of amiibo branded fictional concepts (Amiibo Token (Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge), Uncle amiibo, amiibo Hut), then a category of characters with corresponding amiibo (Poochy, Shulk, Boo), maybe a category of fictional items and locations unlocked with amiibo (Luigi Board, maybe the List of Yoshi designs in Yoshi's Woolly World). This way all of them can be put in appropriate spaces in the category tree, as can the untouched subcategory Category:Amiibo-compatible games. This system leaves the game consoles in the lurch, but there's only three of them so it doesn't qualify for a category anyway. Salmancer (talk) 12:54, March 16, 2025 (EDT)
